I was going to write you privately to say hello and ask how was

feeling about Chili's these days. I had been thinking about him. I also

got an email with an attachment that was from Elaine. I deleted it. I

thought the subject line was ears but I can't remember. I hope Elaine

doesn't have too much trouble....lots of virus's lately. I look forward to

Hey there,

I just want you to know that someone sent me a virus to my Netscape

mail. You should all check your computers to make sure that it isn't

you. I have requested that I be removed from this list as this has

happened to me twice in one week.

I am sorry about this and I do hope that all of your computers are

This was sent to me today and I found the file "sulfnbk.exe" in C:\windows\command. I really don't know if this is a real virus or not. Have not seen or heard anything before this about it. I'm going to email PC-cillin and ask about it. PC-cillin is my anti-virus program. If you use Norton or McAfee - check with them. I figure it's better safe than sorry. I deleted it from my computer.

This is a virus that is spread address book to address book. IT IS APPARENTLY UNDETECTABLE BY NORTON AND MCAFEE. It remains dormant for about 14 days then activates and wipes out the hard drive data.

The directions for removing it are easy.

1. Go to "start" - then to "find or search" (depending on your computer)

2. In the "search for files or folders" type in; sulfnbk.exe - this is the virus.

3. In the "look in" make sure you're searching Drive C.

4. Hit "search" button (or find)

5. If this file shows up (it's an ugly blackish icon that will have the name "sulfnbk.exe)

DO NOT OPEN IT

6. Right click on the file - go down to delete and left click.

7. It will ask you if you want to send it to the recycle bin - say yes.

8. Go to your desktop (where all the icons are) and double click on the recycle bin.

9. Right click on sulfnbk.exe and delete again - or empty the bin.

If you find it, send this e-mail to all in your addr. book.

I have been reciving a lot of attachments and I will not open them unless

they are from family members because of all the viruses. They arent fun!! I

know they get into your computer without you knowing it so it is best not to

send attachmtns or open them if at all possible.

Dear Jim,

Be aware that some people get their kicks putting out stuff like this, and

causing good

folks like you to go in and delete potentially needed files in windows.

Always check with a reliable source before doing anything.

Personally, I use these hoaxes as a reminder to go do my weekly update online

with my

virus software, and then run my weekly scan. There are new virus's all the time,

and the

old information on your computer can not protect you.

Jim, I got this too, a while back. Found

it on my computer and deleted it. THEN I found out that the virus

warning was a hoax. The sulfnbk.exe

is

a Windows file that's used for long file names. We've deleted something

harmless, and hopefully, we'll never need it. If anyone has this

file on their computer still, can you please send it to me??!! LOL!

Not all the list got the virus only some... Some viruses (I believe this was one

of them) will take email addresses from all unread email in your email program

(usually Outlook/Outlook Express) at the time it is set into action! And yes

moderators are the only ones who can view the list of members to this group.

Thought there are plenty of ways of getting hold of those members names and

email addresses for someone who is really determined!

I never opened the attachments from this virus but was still minorly infected

just through the preview plane. Please read the following if you have received

any odd unsolicited email lately.

Recently, my computer at home was infected with the Klez virus. I removed the

virus from my machine successfully. My understanding of the virus is that it

infects people who use Outlook and it doesn't infect people who use AOL. Friends

of mine (who are in my address book) started receiving weird emails that were

from people they didn't know but who were in my address book. These emails

always contained an attachment that when opened was blank or full of zeros. I

also received weird emails from some of you that were bogus, infected emails

generated by my machine. Just because you receive one of these weird emails

doesn't necessarily mean you have the Klez virus. But you need to check. I've

also been told that the Klez virus can make your antivirus software not work.

Today I received an infected email from svanwagner@.... I have no idea who

this person is and he/she is NOT in my address book, but must be in an address

book that I am in. So, if you have this person in your address book, you may

have the Klez virus. To get the removal tool, go to www.symantec.com.

I am still under attack by the Kleze Worm virus also. It has had eight

attempts at my email account, but each time my ISP has removed it so I have

not had to fall back on my own anti-virus protection. Nonetheless, it is

essential to update your anti-virus on a daily basis. The latest attempt

gave subject " Garden of Eden " .

I get at least ten times a day this kind of virussen send but my

virsusscanner banns them all out. Just delete them no problem as far as I

know. the virus is not in your computer but in the computer of the one who

send you, often unknowingly, the message with virus.

I just received this e-mail from one of my people on my list. I am sorry, but I

did have this virus on my NEW computer setup. I have deleted it per his

instructions at the bottom of his e-mail. SORRY! but there is time to get rid

of it. Please print out the instructions and follow them. It works fine.

I just got this message from a contact. Sure enough my address book was

infected, which means yours will be also. I have the fix below. My very updated

McAfee virus checker did not catch it.

The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus >

systems.

The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It's sent

automatically by the messenger and dby the Address Book, whether or not you sent

emails to your contacts. We have checked, found it, and deleted it.

Here's how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it:

DO THIS;

1. Go to Start,Find, or Search option.

2. In the files/folder option, write the name jdbgmgr.exe

3. Be sure you search your C;drive

4. Click " find now "

5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe

DO NOT OPEN IT

6. Right click and delete it. It will then go to the Recycle Bin

7. Go to the recycle bin and delete it there as well.

IMPORTANT

If you find the virus, you must contact all the people in your address book so

they can eradicate it in their own address books.

Someone said he received a message, supposedly from me, that included a game -- and a virus. His Norton caught it, fortunately. I update my virus protection nearly every day, and I ran a full scan five days ago. Which shows you can't be too careful.

Pam, I opened the mail 'welcome to my hometown', but as soon as I saw it was a file with no letter, I didn't open or upload it. Will my computer be O.K.???? (cos it's my son's new one, and he'll KILL me!!). It's O.K. to click on the mail as as long as you don't upload anything, right???
