Guest guest
Wow, I had no idea I would get so much feedback. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO RESPONDED! I'm a busy mom of two wee ones, so I'm just going to do one response to all. All of your advice is so helpful and encouraging. I know I said I'm in transition, but judging from some things my family is going through, I think I'm getting wholehearted pretty fast! So here is what I gleaned from what you all said,: What I want to change: -I suspect one of my problems is letting my husband do the shopping (bless his heart!). So we need to get on the same page. -I think I also need to limit my trips to Trader Joe's (too many temptations!). -I liked the menu idea, as well as going shopping with a list. -I definitely need to sit down with and talk about the seasonal budget idea. -Buying frozen veggies is a great idea, at least for this winter! -Leaner cuts of meat - that one I need to work on (hubby might drag his feet! But I can feed it to myself and the kids though!) -Buy in season (I liked the fruit input) I am indeed planning a large garden this year and hope it is very fruitful! Hoping I can do without a CSA this summer, but maybe that's wishful thinking. I'm determined to at least give it a good shot to store up veggies for next winter (dehydrating and fermenting). Ah, I have my work cut out for me, and what a learning curve! *If anyone wants to have me over for a fermenting party, let me know!!* I'm encouraged to know that at least I'm doing some things right. I do use coconut oil (for everything!). I still have part of an amazing lamb in the freezer (my husband loved that one). Kefir. Raw goat milk in the summer. Always make broth out of chicken/bones. I do cook everything from scratch. Once again, thank so much for taking the time to respond to my question! It's funny. Most of my friends think I'm the perfect example of healthy living (I'M NOT!), but when I read ya'lls messages I'm challenged (in an uncomfortable but good sort of way) to take it to the next level. Thanks!
