Hi Ray and everyone else too. Yes, Ricahrd is already on the Zantac

(that is Ranitadine) and has been for close to a year now. The Losec was

explained to me as being stronger than the Zantac but not for long term use. It

is Omeprazone, and it did help more than the Zantac when he was put on it for

the two months over Christmas after refluxing blood.I wouldnt be surprised if it

turns out milk product is aggrevating s problem, whatever the problem is.

Whether because of the lactose, an allergy, the high fat content....whatever.

I cant do any food challenges or work out what makes things worse for

because he is almost exclusively on Pediasure supplement, and even then only

takes it reluctantly now, he would rather not put anything in his mouth

nowadays. Although food sometmes interests him, it is a visual interest, he

wont actually eat~ eating=pain apparently. Now things are a little better

than they were at the end of the year last year, he might eat on one day maybe

3 grapes (I think because they are cold on his mouth and feel nice on the

ulcers) and if there is anything else we can hope to get in him it is at

breakfast because he has woken so hungry from starving himself the day before he

decides whatever pain breakfast will bring is worth it. Then sometimes he will

have , perhaps 3-5 spoonfuls of rice bubbles with milk or perhaps a quarter a

piece of toast. And that will be it for a days intake. He sits down to meals

with the family, he is offered food at regular times throughout the day, he will

sometimes refuse point blank, sometimes try and you can tell he really WANTS to

eat, but then it wont happen. We have learnt not to make an issue of his eating

but the PAIN I cannot accept. I dont know if the pain has gotten worse over the

past 6 months or if it has always been this way and it is only because we can

finally understand him (re speech) that we know of it.

I thought I remembered somewhere that there is such a thing as alkaline reflux

and something to do with the duodenum or pancreas. Does anyone know about that?

If I could work out an alternative to the Pediasure that was palatble and

dairy free I would give it a try. But the elemental formulae the GI gave us to

try last year was point blank refused by , and I expect most ot those

types of things taste as awful as eachother.

I appreciate your information !
