I think this is a key part ofAsperger's at least that is how my son is. He is 12 and right now isinto World War 1, Star Wars, Tin Tin.since a young age he has had anarea of interest that he learned everything about..skeletal system, solar system, dogs, cats, gears, locks, keys(antique), world history, piates, medival weapons, Celtics..I could go on. To me the this is a keycomponent of Asperger's. He was the "little Profeesor" of the classroom, also the class policman, until he realized DITTO DITTO GailYour son sounds like mine!!! It is making me a bit nuts, but I know people think I’m weird when I say we have too many. likes to collect series of books. He likes Great Illustrated classics for Kids, Short and Shivery, Star Wars, Dungeon and Dragons, Books on the different older wars, cook books, and many more… For Christmas he made his dad a desert from Poland called Apricot Treat. He even made the candied orange peal needed for the recipe. I was very proud of him as it was a very thoughtful gift. Guest guest
When ds was old enough to point and talk, he was fascinated with trashcans..FASCINATED. It was funny, and we had no clue it was just the beginning of odd fascinations. Now at just-turned-4, it's Pokemon and Nintendo games, though he's got an interest in dinosaurs that we're trying to encourage in place of the electronic games...not sure if that's good to replace one obsession with another?
