Oh, that Marlie is one smart girl! (and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her!)

Since Hato Mugi is great for the skin, uses it in her "beauty classes". The stew recipe is on page 71 of "Cooking The Whole Foods Way". After you really like hato mugi with rice, try her stew.

Dottie

Hato mugi

Oh my...... Marlie just told me she loves Hato Mugi. I hated that stuff but made some today 1 part hm to 4 parts rice it was pretty decent and Marlie loved it. Funny stuff.

thanks for her birthday wishes.

I'll grumble and groan my way to check out the stew one of these days.

About the body scrub thanks for the description, I was doing circular on my legs

now I

know to do it the easier way.

Oh, this has just reminded me of another combo that we really like, although it's been awhile since I've made it.

Soak & then Pressure cook.

1/4 cup of short-grain brown rice

1/4 cup of sweet brown rice

1/4 cup of hato mugi

1/4 cup of whole-wheat berries

Wondering if someone can help me. I've been wanting to try Hato Mugi but wasn't sure if it would bother me. I don't tolerate oats and barley well (don't know if its the higher gluten content or what) so was unsure if Hato Mugi sits well with most people. Also, s site sells two different kinds - 4.50 and 12.00 a pound - and I didn't know if the more expensive one was a must have or the if the other was perfectly fine. Thanks, giDottie Roseboom <rosedot@...> wrote: Oh, that Marlie is one smart girl! (and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her!) Since Hato Mugi is great for the skin, uses it in her "beauty classes". The white hato mugi is the polished one and used more for cooking,

and the brown one is unpolished (more whole) and is used more

medicinally usually. It's a cereal grass that grows next to the

river, so it may not bother you like pearled barley might. It's

really delicious and very cleansing!

And I think that the unpolished hato mugi tastes completely different from the white. And the unpolished that I bought was organic, while I never found any organic polished hato mugi.

Hi gi,

without knowing more about your condition it is hard to know if you

will feel great using hato mugi but most likely you will. It is not

like other barley and is a grass not a grain. sells both the

whole and the pearled versions and thus the two prices. I eat so many

whole whole grains, I enjoy the pearled hato mugi as an addition to my

diet. I love love love it. It's light and easy to digest and really

does make my skin nice especially 2-3 days after I eat it.

Thanks . I developed IBS about a year and a half ago (I think due to a badly diseased gallbladder which had me eating pretty much oatmeal and anything without fiber for a few months- it eventually came out). So now I don't seem to tolerate oats or barley. I've always had poor digestion but nothing like this. The macro diet seems to help (I started in January) but have many bad days still. Hopefully I can tolerate the hato mugi especially since I just started a gluten free diet to see if that helps. I think so. I had so many tests done by the gasto doc before he took out the gallbladder. I'm going to go to a new M.D. soon and see whats up. My old M.D. thought it was IBS. yeah well, there are very well meaning doctors who use the IBS label

for " I am just not sure... " so it could easily be Candida overgrowth

or even a combo of things. Chrones tends to be more painful and

Candida can often show up as unrelated things. See the article I

wrote about these things in the July/Aug Macrobiotics Today magazine.

You can download it from 's site...

, I actually have been reading up on Candida since you posted about it a few months ago and also read one article you had written on it (not sure if it's the article in Macro Today but am going to order it). I used Candex along with cutting out baked flour products (at s suggestion for endometriosis) and I definitely felt myself improving. My endo pain decreased significantly, in addition to spotting, and overall felt better (not 100% but better). Then I ran out of the candex and didn't get more for a few weeks. When I tried taking it at night - two different times- I woke up up SICK to my stomach with vomitting for hours. It was awful and I felt bad for a few days after. ly I don't know if it was a coincidence since my nieces were a little sick around this two week window that I tried taking it again. So know I'm a little skittish about trying again. I also think that I may

not be getting enough digestive enzymes since I had my gallbladder out and all my intestinal problems started then. So now I have an appt in Sept with a new gastro doc (I want to rule out pancreatic problems and such). Sorry to ramble on. I'm just frustrated since I feel like I've been doing better with my diet, exercise, lifestyle, etc then I ever have and feel the best I've ever felt and also the absolute worst. Thanks, gi Marque <susanmarque@...> wrote: yeah well, there are very well meaning doctors who use the IBS labelfor "I am just not sure..." so it could easily be Candida overgrowthor even a combo of things.
