Just so you have another perspective on this whole thing : my daughter

has been weaned from one SSRI and introduced to another simultaneously several

times and there has never been a problem. We DID once take her off meds

completely for a while to get a baseline reading of how she was (and it wasn't

pretty, believe me - the OCD came roaring back full-strength). Other than that,

her

psychiatrist has always had one med reduced gradually while introducing the

new one gradually. This is trickier, or different, with Prozac than with the

others because it is eliminated so slowly from the body, but it can be done with

all of them. I'd question your doctor as to why he / she is doing it this way.

It will certainly lengthen the whole process and cause your daughter a lot of

suffering in the meantime. There may be legitimate reasons, but I'd ask just

to make sure.
