Guest guest Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I am sorry to hear of your trouble finding a medication that works for your daughter. We have been through paxil, lexapro and now are on zoloft. They seem to just poop out after a couple of years with my daughter. There are other meds besides SSRI's that could benefit your daughter. It seems that the SSRI's just agitate her. I know that some doctors add an atypical antipsychotic to the SSRI and that helps sometimes. Also, there is an older antidepressant, Anafranil, which is actually approved for children and is known to help OCD. There are more physical side effects with this drug, but it may be an alternative to the SSRI's for your daughter. Have you ever tried inositol? Many kids have had success with that. I wish you lots of luck. I know how frustrated you must be. Remember, that it will improve! Sometimes it takes soo long, but it really will. Hang in there! I think it is great that you are taking her out a little at a time. Do reinforcement work? Sometimes when I am desperate, I bribe my daughter. If your daughter goes to this appointment, maybe you could get her something she really wants! Ellen Quote
