That's good that J would let them take the blood; I can't even imagine how Karac would react to that.

What have you tried with J besides the Zpraxa? What are the side effects of Lithium? Pat K

Re: JJ-Suger!!

{at,

J got blood taken from him today....5 viels! I go back and see the Dr. next thrusday...(rgular Dr. not the Dr. that gives J zpraxa). He was a big guy and let them do it. I am afried when we take him off of it he will start having bad behaviours again. The zpraxa was helping him with that. I was thinking of trying Litheum (sp)? A guy that works at my school takes it.....he is just a little "slow" but is a good worker. He said he does well on it. Lois

J has had resperdal....he took that for a long time........He has had albilify but he did bad on that. He had seraquil (sp)? too and didn't do well on it. The zpraxa has been the best with behaviours. I haven't read about the side effects yet.The guy that plays "Sonny" on General Hospital take it for bipoler. He was on Opral one time taking about Bipolaer and how Litheum helped him. Lois

It's a real problem isn't it? You would think there would be something that would help these kids without the horrible side effects.

Everything that we have tried with Karac has ended up being detrimental. I think we have tried just about everything but Lithium.

Have you tried Geodon? I think it would have been effective with Karac if they had given him 20mg. instead of 80mg. The 80 mg's caused the TD. Pat K

Lois,

Cordell (8 years old) was taking it 3 times a day, 5 mg. Then we went to 1/2 in

morning and afternoon then whole one in evening. It did not help him at all. I

finally told the doctor I wsan't giving it to him anymore. We switched to

Abilify, risperidone, and tenex 3 times a day. All the medications are low

doses. Cordell has seizures so he also takes depakote, topamax and keppra.

I know it is alot of meds. however he is a totally different child now. Cordell

is really sensitive to meds. and tends to have bad reactions as the doses get

higher so the dr. has put him on lower doses, much means he has to take more. A

year ago, we had to remove him from the house for several weeks to get his

behaviors under control. As long as he is one his meds. he is controlable.

What meds. have you tried.

JODI

p.s. we have had him on seraquel and would not recommend that one for anyone.

> Jodi,

> What did you switch him to? How much was he taking? J is taking 5mg. at night

and a half a tab in the morning......We took him off the morning half a tab 2

days ago. Did the zpraxa help him? Thanks, Lois

OMG!!!!!!!!!! That is a lot of meds!!!!!! i though giving J 5mg at night and a half in the morning was bad. We got rid of the morning dose and he seems to be doing good without it. J could never handle that many meds together and he is 21.

I am glad it has helped our son. When J was 8 he was very laid back and loving. He got agression when he hit the puberity years. Lois

Wow, Karac became aggressive with it too, but I thought it was because of the high dosage.

It wsa the hardest dicussion we had to make, to put him on meds. But it got to

the point he was conpletely out of control. It was the last option we used.

We had exhausted every other options. He is doing wonderful now and we can tell

if he didn't get even one dose during the day.

Lois,

Would he drink the bottle water with the flavoring? Maybe you could put the can in a "cozy insulated thingy" and eventually make a transistion to a bottle with the cozy thingy? Long shot...but maybe.

Re: JJ-Suger!!

Pat,

I WISH he drink water!!!!!!!!! I can't get nothing but pop in him!! Its a mess! I have tried water and he won't touch it. All he wants are cans. He won't even drink pop in a bottle. Lois
