Guest guest
Hi De: Yes, there are some "special" people who get HCV and then spontaneously clear the virus. However, this accounts for only 15-20 percent of those of us who are infected. For those whose immune systems do spontaneously clear, they may continue to show the HCV antibody, but it is only an indication that they were exposed to the HCV. I have special antibodies to HBV (I cleared Hep . This is an indication that I cannot get the disease again. Of course, HCV replicates and mutates. Resultingly, if one wants to play with fire (such as IV abuse), he/she can get infected anew. Love Ya.
Guest guest
My advice is to do your homework. I didn't and I'm paying for it now. Ten years ago they found the antigens in my blood for hep c and my doc said I had it fought it off and not to worry about it. Not sure if he tested for the active virus or not. I'm thinking not. Took a change of doctors and more tests to find out I still have the virus and it has been chipping away at my liver for 10 years and nothing was done. Now soon as I get things sorted out and settled on the home front I'm starting treatment. I have type 2a.
Guest guest
It's possible to have the hcv anti-body, but not active virus. There are a small percentage of people who clear spontaneously. But I don't know if those people have to always be concerned about the dragon waking up. De Faith is the ability to not panic. -----Original Message-----From: kathy brunow [mailto:kathy-boo@...] Sent: Wednesday, September 15, 2004 8:28 PMHepatitis CSupportGroupForDummies Subject: Re: Re: Hello...newbie here... suzie Nell, Your kidding aren't you!! Guest guest
Hey remember the Omega man? They were afther him for his blood for a serum!!! I think that someone should be investigating these people to find out what causes them to clear without tx, could be a way to use this to get the rest of us clear too. So she is thinking that might have been my body fighting off the infection and that my viral loads may come back zippo...and never come back as long as my immune system is not compromised in any way. Does that make sense to anyone? Will have the load count by Friday, so more info. I am hoping for a zippo count. And it seems like a there is a lot of time involved in the liver biopsy...either a long time to get one or a long time to get the results. Is this normal? I do hope that the third time is a charm for you Suzie!Kathy Brunow
