I need a sanity check. Just a bit of background again on our family.

My 10 yr. old daughter's OCD started at age 7 1/2--fear of vomiting. It

was so bad that she wouldn't eat and was starving and had to be

hospitalized and tube fed. She got better on Celexa and Zyprexa

(Zyprexa only for 3 mos.) and our lives were fairly even (still lots of

anxiety, but eating), until this past spring when she had a waxing

period and got severe again. We switched her med. to Prozac and back on

the Zyprexa. She's done really well and she is off the Zyprexa once

again. The prozac seems to have helped the OCD and anxiety much better

than the Celexa did. Her temper is worse and she has more of an

attitude, but comparitively, life is so nice around here!

Then this morning. My son, who is now 7 1/2, ironically enough, got up

and we went downstairs to get breakfast. I got the bowl and milk out

and told him to eat quick and we'd head out to sport camp. They have

been going for a week and a half and love it. Well, I went back

upstairs for about 10 minutes and ran down to make his lunch. He was

still sitting there, but with his glass and spoon. No eating yet. I

got on him and said, " We're going to be late--what were you doing? " etc,

and he was kind of flustered and couldn't answer. He ate and came

upstairs and put on a pair of black sweatpants, even though I told him

it was going to be hot today. I said, " You need to change into

shorts--it's going to be hot today! " He smiled and looked really

relieved. I stopped and sat down by him and said, " What's up this

morning? " He said, " My brain is telling me that I had to put the black

sweats on so I wouldn't get in trouble. But since you said I can put

shorts on, now I can. " I was stunned. I said, " What else is your brain

telling you? " He said, " I had to keep going back and forth to get my

glass and spoon this morning, that's why I wasn't eating. " I couldn't

believe what I was hearing!!! I just said, " Let me know if your brain

tells you anymore of these things, okay? " and sent him off to camp.

This is the same child that had tics for a couple of months this

spring--shaking his hands in front of him all day long. We ignored it

and it went away. I figured that lots of kids go through phases like

that. So, am I jumping to conclusions, or am I going to have another

OCD child? I feel like crying.

BTW, I have twin boys that are 2--one of them obsessively closes all the

drawers and doors all day long. Great. Maybe I'll be 4 for 4!??? :'(
