Guest guest
Deb, : While on Tx. I ran across articles on relapse rates concerning alcohol and narcotics. I compulsively filed hard copies in three ring binders without adequate indexing. Long to short I'll wade thru the boxes to find data supporting my opinion that most "Recovery" related to abstaining from using D & A is tested by Interferon Tx. It just make sense, but before I shoot my mouth off, I get some data. When reviewing research about Mood instability related to Tx. most researchers screen out previous IV drug user, for two reasons: (1) potential long term effects of the narcotics on the user and (2) possible differences in depression rates in individual that use IV drugs and "normal" population before using drugs. Anyway a strong support system and the grace of a power greater than self are more important than any data. Do you believe in a roll of the dice or divine gift/grace. As my brain goes into the abyss over that I will say good night. Mike

Guest guest
My doc never questioned me on prior addiction. I told him about IV drug use as one of my risk factors (I actually said, "I grew up in the 70's. I was a drunken, druggie, slut, I have plenty of risk factors.") Perhaps because I've been clean so long, he didn't think it was an issue. He also knew about my long past suicide attempts. When asked if I ever had any suicidal thoughts these days, I said I had teens so my thoughts were more likely to lean toward the homocidal! Then he warned me about everything & left it all up to me. He didn't even require my shrink, my GP did that. So I guess I come across as fairly mentally stable! lol De Faith is the ability to not panic. -----Original Message-----From: mwm1951@...
