Yes, Debbi, you are an incredible woman. Your vision, integrity and

unflinching drive toward your goal is inspirational. I wish I could meet

you in person. I am admiring of you and want to tell you... have been

negligent in doing so.

lynn, you are also an incredible resource on this list and I thank you.

And lots more of you. Hope I am glad you are posting. Thank you. Jay

I read your post, and instantly had this picture in my mind of you helping

to successfully treat a patient because you had your beautifully prepared

medical PECS cards with you. Then the other nurse and doctor working with

you said " That was great. Where did you get those? " And a few years

later, word had spread and medical personnel everywhere were using them ...

le,

I'm so glad you defended your (and my) point!  Every child that is born and even

those that are born under the worse circumstances can turn out to be great

kids/adults.  My oldest son was born to a mom who was anerexic/bulemic.  She

denied the pregnancy till birth and they figure he was at least 6-7 weeks

early.  He was born blue and apgar scores were 0 across the board and was on

life support for 7 days.  Their prognosis for him was not good - severe mental

retardation, cerebral palsy, deaf, blind, etc. - they didn't even think he would

be able to feed himself let alone ever walk.  He is now 13 years old and is in

advanced academics at his middle school.  He is involved in the band (has

amazing gift in music), chorus, track and is a black belt going for 2nd degree

this October.  He is one of the most amazing kids I have ever met (I know I'm

not very objective!).  But he is compassionate toward others that are different

(he is amazing with

his sister Maddie), kind, outgoing, and will help anyone (cuts grass for

elderly or people disabled for free, will run errands, babysits, etc.).  My

philosophy is God doesn't make mistakes and he creates each one of us with a

gift and a purpose.  I feel as a mother, my job is to make sure my kids can be

the best possible Maddie, Jordan, etc they can be!  Who are we to decide that

God made a " mistake " and we are fixing it.

On the postive side - good luck with your pregancy and I'll add you and your

baby to my prayer list:)

Rhonda

Sondra,

I bet that was a difficult time for you. Its so hard to see our babies going

through these things. I'm so glad everything worked out good for your missy. I

know for me it was the hardest experience ever. I've actually been told by a

coworker that babies born ill like my daughter shouldn't be allowed to survive.

He believes in natural selection and feels that if a baby can't survive on their

own then we should let them die. After I got over the shock of his words, I

yelled at him and told him my feelings. It was not nice. All babies deserve the

chance to live. it would be horrible to deliver a baby and then be forced to let

them struggle to survive. I knew at my daughters birth that if she survived she

could have many problems. I fought fer her anyway and don't regret any of it.

She is so special.

Sorry I've rambled off subject. I'm more emotional than usual. Pregnany issues.

Lol. I'm just praying this pregnancy goes fullterm and I don't have to spend

time in NICU again. But I will handle whatever happens.

coma to allow her to heal, they shared her brain was of badly swollen at birth,

she had buldge out eyes even too and was of the sort of baby who had of tubes

put in her everywhere in her hands feet nose mouth and even her belly button, it

was of much scary, but she too is of with vision isues of and mucn much learing

issues or retaining things. she had her first ever IQ testing that was in the

high 80 or 90 cant remember but they usually were in the mid 70 to low 80's.

she failed the hearing and the visual screen when being of discharged form the

NICU they told of me she would have vision and hearing and learning issues but

they did to know to what degree.

My lawn care is doomed! The lawn tractor made bunch of very loud metal sounding

noise, so loud that Kim came running out of the house, then it just died in the

front yard last night! A friend looked at the lawn tractor had no compression

and would not start up after that. It is only a year old, I bought it at Lowe's,

so I called them and I have to take to place nearby to get it fixed, 2 year

manufacture's warranty. If they can not fix it they will refund the money.

Aggy when i to be of becomed a mom for the first time i to found an article in a

magazine before Aimee was of born of a list they had for when a baby cries

Hungry

wet

bored

pain

too hot

too cold

sick

were of the four I to remember of that list and so it took of me time to learn

of it and since for self could be of to pick up the slightest variations of her

cries and so that helped me know of come caused of her cries expecially I to

knew of her hunger cry. she too rarily cried it was of more a whimper sort of

cry for most of her needs.

Isaiah ahd the rest of my kids were of non stop screamer xries or just cried

much of the day it was of very hard for me to find the cause. Isaiah was of a

strong need to be of held and close to me. so for much of the first 8-10 months

I to held and carried him all of the day/

being of a young mom was of hard because i to learned from books and magazines

because to me needed visuals and or writed visual langauge to learn. parenting

magazine was for me that time the best teaching tool I to had.

Later it was of more the little house on the praire that teached me HOW to

parent in love and patience and how that kids learned and parents teached. it

teached me HOW to emotionally be of to stand back metaphoricaly to observe the

issues before reacting to it. Such as when one of the kids were of not being

honest in the show it teached me how the parents worked and such though that

issue with their child.

If the channel 2 electrode is always showing higher amplitude than the channel 1 electrode, my first thought is that there is a bad electrode in channel 1 (nick in the wire or poor connection somewhere) or in channel 2 (scratch or chip in the plating of the electrode if they are not solid silver or solid tin).  Or that someone used different metal in the two electrodes (one gold, one silver), or that there is a problem with one channel of the amplifier.

I would, in doing the assessment, immediately stop recording and test these options.  A simple way is to remove and switch the electrodes.  If the differential in amplitudes switches sides, it's obviously not in the brain.

While it's certainly possible to have higher amplitudes on one side than the other, it would be much more likely to see this in one site or a couple contiguous sites.  When it happens across the board, Pete's first rule of neurofeedback reminds us:  " When you see something unusual or wierd in the EEG, first assume it is something you are doing, the client is doing or the equipment is doing before you blame it on the brain. "   Following this simple rule can save a LOT of time spent trying to train something that isn't there.

Usually when amplitudes across the board are lower in one hemisphere than another (in one or a few neighboring sites) it suggests there may have been an injury there.  Fewer neurons on one side (damaged or killed by a blow to the head) result in overall amplitudes being lower.

I had an assessment done today and it showed that my right side (hemisphere) is greater in amplitude that the left side. Also, the assessment showed some coherence frontal issues (I was told not that bad though) and also some low alpha at the occipital region.

In your experience have you seen many patients that have higher amplitude on the right side? If so, what is this a sign of, ie disorder? Also, what is the best treatment to get better amplitude balance via neurofeedback (bioexplorer)

Hi Debbie, I sure hope you get to writing about your grandson. I have a

son who has been autistic all his life with many disorders such as

epilepsy, etc. and we are currently in the process of having one of my

grandsons evaluated at school for " the spectrum " they said. He is 6 and

in 1st grade and has some quirky behaviors so far in his life, but is

doing pretty well in school so far, is a smart little boy and a

sweetheart but sometimes he can get a little overstimulated and refuses

to do his work and then he can say inappropriate things to his teacher.

Also is afraid of toilets and eats mostly only chocolate milk out of a

baby bottle and white food items but is big and strong none the less.

I love your font it is easy on my eyes!
