Hi Kristi,I would try and flare out the side that is making her skin red...If you'reunable to do this safely, I would place some gauze or some type of thinpadding in that area until you can get things figured out. Hopefully, youcan find duck billed pliers...They should have some at the local hosp. Ifyou cant just put your fingers in between the cast and her tummy whiletrying to flare. The cast looks good, but I can def see the redness on the that one side. Go w/ your gut Kristi, as you have done since day one...If you think thatedge near her tummy could cause skin breakdown, you're probably right.Call me if you want. Guest guest
Hey, KristiJust like said, you just need to go with your gut on this. If you feel that it needs flaring, do it. If you would feel better about waiting till your appt. tomorrow, then just try to wait. Maybe you could get some gauze pads or something under it until then? May have to wait until after she has a BM? Remember, I am only a couple hours away! I just asked Tehya if she was up to a road trip to the beach today:)No, all joking aside, I will head that way if you need help with this. Guest guest
has said it best, I'm just chiming in that Bex has never had that bruise in that area- is that a bruise? Go with your gut, but my instinct would be to flare it out with some rounded pliers, too, or have your pedi or another doc do it. Glad she's feeling better and adjusting! Guest guest
HEY! THAT IS THE TAPE THEY PUT ON IT AT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN B'HAM, ALABAMA. IT IS PRETTY MUCH WATER PROOF & SMOOTH. THE NURSE ASKED WHAT COLOR CAST WE WANTED...BRIGHT PINK, PURPLE, OR TIE-DYED....BUT SHE CAME BACK IN WITH THAT LIGHT ORANGE TAPE....WHO KNOWS???? I WAS SO WRAPPED UP WITH EVERYTHING I DID NOT ASK ABOUT THE TAPE, BUT I LIKE IT BETTER THAN JUST THE CAST FEEL. THEY ALSO USED THE T-SHIRT UNDER SIERRA'S CAST....SO WE DO NOT HAVE ANY ROUGH EDGES! I AM TAKING HER TOMORROW TO SEE AN ORTHO PED. DOWN HERE TO FLARE OUT THE PRESSURE POINT THAT IS CAUSING BRUISING....IT IS JUST TOO TIGHT...IT IS HURTING HER AND HER SKIN! THANKS! Guest guest
Kristi, I am sorry Sierra is experiencing some bruising. ' cast very tight on her abdomen also. When they cut it off, even after less than 24 hours with the cast on, she had some raw spots (mostly hips). The pictures of Sierra are very cute. She is very cute. I hope this Thursday goes better for us than last Thursday.AlyssaFrom: Kristi <kristij@...>To: infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Sun, April 25, 2010 11:45:31 PMSubject: Re: Re: PIC'S OF SIERRA....3RD DAY IN CAST!!!
