Patty I am sorry you are confused. Believe me I have walked in your shoes. I was told in 1985 that I had an auto-immune

disease that was attacking my Liver. It turned my liver into cirrhosis and I had a Liver Transplant My 15th 1995.

Ask on Group and questions you have?

There are children with Liver Diseases and they have never drank. Many of them had not even left the hospital after being born.

There are many Liver Diseases but most people do not believe you when you say you do not drink, A few months ago I

had in home hospice and I fired them because they treated me as if I was a Drunk.

You said blood test done and you tested negative and your Liver is swollen. The Liver will be swollen if it is being attacked

by some form of Liver Disease - that has nothing to do with Drinking. A healthy Liver is not swollen - I am not saying this to

scare you. There are many drugs that can turn around the cirrhosis and you could live a very long life. Those drugs were not

available for me back in 1985. There are many tests to see what kind of Liver Disease you may have or rule out that you

have a Liver Disease.

I STRESS THAT CIRRHOSIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU OR ANYONE DRINKS. HEPATITIS JUST MEANS INFLAMMATION

IN THE LIVER - NOT BECAUSE OF DRINKING IN MANY CASES.

Patty I know it is hard to accept that something may or may not be wrong with your Liver. Do not let it concern you until they

have a prognosis. Then they can get you on medicine that will slow down or stop the Liver Disease. You need see a hepatologists

(Liver Doctor) Primary Care Doctors do not know very much about Liver Diseases - I know more than they do.

My spelling is horrible always has been.

About Genetic Liver Diseases

More than 100 liver diseases are genetic (inherited). Some disease symptoms may be present in parents; other parents may have no symptoms, but their children may have the disease. Improved understanding of genetics has given great hope for the future for parents of children with inherited metabolic liver disorders (diseases related to the metabolism of protein or metals in the liver). In the future, gene therapy may allow doctors to treat a disorder by inserting a missing gene into a patient's cells instead of using drugs or surgery.

I am the only one in my Family that has/had a Liver Disease.

patty; don't worry untill you have a second oppinion on any thing..if

you are not sure of what your dr. is thinking about your

symtoms..before you go to the next app. write a list of ??? you have

and ask even the ones yoy think may be dumb..they can't read your mind

either..if they want to do more testing..great..at least they are

trying..if you get brushed off..and still confused..get another drs.

oppinion..it could be alot of resons your liver is swollen..and how

swollen is it??they do blood work to see if the liver is filtering out

the bad shemicals, even which ones..don't get too upset yet..just keep

on the sr. untill you get the right answer..hope it goes well..
