Guest guest
Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that my 5 y/o ds, Gabe, is the same with his cycles. He gets mouth sores on occasion, but always the sore throat. He throws up EVERY time - in fact, one of the precursors to his fever is throwing up, and we know then that the fever is a day or two away. He often complains that his legs hurt or his shoulders hurt, and he refuses to walk a day or two before he gets sick. He doesn't get the nodules that you described on your child, but he does have that joint pain. He has been diagnosed with possible , although we still have a lot of other testing to get done (pre-Crohn's, TRAPS, etc.). Take care. ________________________________________________________________ Juno Gift Certificates Give the gift of Internet access this holiday season. http://www.juno.com/give
Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the info. Interresting that he throws up BEFORE the fever. Shane always throws up when his fever is the highest. He never throws up before the cycle. I wonder if this means anything? Does your son ever throw up when his fever is really high? Has anyone put a symptoms list together? THanks. Beverly Roseville, CA > > Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that my 5 y/o ds, Gabe, is the same with his cycles. Guest guest
Hi Beverly, My son does in fact throw up throughout the whole episode, from two days before he gets any sign of a fever, throughout the fever (he can't eat and throws up anything he might try to eat), and about a day or two after the fever. Our doc is always surprised because he says that throwing up is not a symptom of . He only weighs 36 lbs, and he's 5, and I'm sure that he'd weigh more if his eating wasn't interrupted for a week each month. Plus, his teeth are just a mess from all of the acid that sits on the enamel after his throwing up sessions. How are your child's teeth? ________________________________________________________________ Juno Gift Certificates Give the gift of Internet access this holiday season. http://www.juno.com/give
Guest guest
Hi , My son's teeth are fine at this time. He usually throws up just when his temperature is at the highest. Once he is at his worst, we give him prednisone and within hours, he is back to normal and feeling better. Have you tried prednisone? It's been a god send for us. Unfortuanately, Shane saw a dermatologist recently and she said no prednisone until she gets a good biopsy of his rash. I am NOT looking forward to that. He will be sick for a week without the steroid. Does your son get the mouth sores? Guest guest
Hi Beverly! We haven't tried prednisone yet. I am actually relieved about that, because it seems a little scary to me - probably I'm just misinformed. Do kids get a rash from the prednisone? I hope everything turns out okay with you and your child's rash so that you can get back on the pred. and the episodes lessen again. My son gets mouth sores, but I don't think he does at every episode. Or maybe it's just that I don't see them every time. He does indeed ask for things like slushies, and I know he says his throat hurts, so there's definitely some mouth/throat pain going on. During his last episode, he had a bad sore inside his bottom lip, but he didn't the last time. Good luck with everything, Beverly. Please let me know how the rash turns out! ________________________________________________________________ Juno Gift Certificates Give the gift of Internet access this holiday season. http://www.juno.com/give
