I was asked, at one point, to leave a DS meeting to which I had brought my son because he was too disruptive to the meeting and I could not leave him with the child care personnel where all the other children were! My son, Eyal - called Elie (after Elie Wiesel) is now almost 16. He was 12 before we were fairly sure that he had besides the DS - PDd and/or ASD. Our salvation was GLENN VATER - on this list- who was kind enough to share his research on this subject - he will send you copies of his research if you ask him. Write him at tthis list with his name in the subject line - I do not have his e-mail handy. Once getting the idea of where my son needed help - great help with sensory integration being the area of biggest need - we started a sensory rich diet. There are still times where he craves more sensory input, but these days he is much more mellow. Also, getting the proper medication - something I avoided for years- has made all the difference with sleeping patterns and ability to attend to instruction - to receive the input of words so that meaningful action can occur.
