This is somemore stuff about autism that you asked

about. Again from my captionist notes.

INSTRUCTOR: At one point in time we didn't know what

autism is. More and more researchers are coming up

with possibilities the reason why children behave the

way they do. There are autistic like tendencies. There

is under the umbrella of autism there is a category

called PDD, progressive

development delay. These are children that may not be

children with autism but they have autistic like

tendency. Which could

be part of what this boy had. Where their head will

rub against the floor and bang and on their tiptoes

and repetitive action and no eye contact. Is that may

make certain sounds repetitively, and some of the

units you go to some of the children. They are finding

through research that some of this behavior they can

reverse. Those children are not born with mental

retardation always, they can ingest something that

causes it and accidents and medication.

High fevers can cause some things. All of these

reasons help the population of individuals with

disabilities. We know that the family is very

important in the process.
