Guest guest
That list is of little help. I used 2 of the doctors on the list, they were of no help to me. I had to go to the doctor parents were recommending. Anyone know of a *good* DAN! in her area? Debi > > hello.. Get on your pc..type in DAN! defeat autism now.... look up a list of > DAN doctors... Guest guest
Elaine, dear, you might as well have taken him to a gynecologist. Some of the top DAN! docs are in Jersey. You might call Dr. Jeff Neubrander in Edison, his office is at the Menlo Park Mall. Or, Dr. Stuart Freedonfeld in Stockton, just across the river from New Hope. He works with autism patients and a general adult population. STEER CLEAR OF CHOP!!!!! You're on the right track asking questions. Don't take no for an answer for your son. You WILL help him when you hook up with the right doc. I have three daughters on the spectrum and NONE has " any recordable illness " from any mainstream doc. We've had EEG's, MRI's over $50,000 in genetics testing, Endocrinology tests and more - my girls are " perfectly healthy. " Unfortunately, if you ask them they can not answer you. So SOMETHING is off, right? Again, Elaine, congrats for starting this journey for your son. God bless you both. Guest guest
I s poke with Dr. Neubrander and he is 2 1/2 hours one way from where I live and he felt it was too far to travel. Dr. FreFreedonfelt is also about 2 1/2 hours one way from where I live. My son is too sick to take him a long distance and I work and it would not be easy for me. Guest guest
If you do not find a DAN closer you should try Neubrander even though he is far. Of ten the DAN's will work with you lond distance and only make you come into the office once a year. The rest of the appts can all be done by phone consult. It is not the best scenario but it's better than doing nothing. hopefully, more doctors will come on board and you can eventually find one closer to you. --- elaine.mack@... wrote: > I s poke with Dr. Neubrander and he is 2 1/2 hours > one way from where I > live and he felt it was too far to travel. Guest guest
If you have not done it, you should go to danwebcast.com and listen to the DAN docs speak. You can start doing many things now to help him get better before your appointment. I would adivse you listen to these docs first:Dr. Wakefield, Dr. Mumper, Dr. Baker, Dr. Pangborn, Dr. Rick Neubrander, Dr. Jill , Dr. Deth, Dr. Levison. Also, you should order Dr. McCandless's book, Children With Starving Brains. Dr. McCandless no longer sees new patients, she travels all over the world teaching other doctors how to help get these kids well. You are on the right track now. If you buy Dr. McCandless's book from her website, you will be invited to join her private list. Good luck. > > I need help. My son has not only Asperger's but many chronic ailments. Guest guest
Elaine, I think Dr. Neubrander is one of the best. I understand your travel problems, I have to go nearly 2 hrs to ours. Do you think if Dr. Neubrander knew how impossible it is finding anyone closer he'd be more encouraging? I've talked with him about DAN! stuff & I live in TN. A lot of times they can do the initial consult & order all the labs, then do paid phone consultations, that's how Dr. Bradstreet does it. We take our daughter to the local hospital lab for testing & the results are sent to him. I hope this helps, I'm sure you're in a horrible place right now. Have you tried any sort of DAN!style treatments, like the gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin b-6 & magnesium, epsom salts baths, etc? There is a lot you can do without the testing, the testing just makes it a little easier. You could do a comprehensive stool analysis yourself, ordered from www.directlabs.com but you probably would want a doc to help you figure out what to do next. Guest guest
Hi Elaine, Many DAN!s work with patients long distance. You would have to drive for the initial visit, and then about every 6 months, with monthly phone consultations. We have 2 very sick boys on the spectrum. We are in Sacramento and our DAN is in Maimi Beach, Florida. He comes here 1-2 times per year for outreach clinics. We established our boys with him at an outreach and now have monthly half- hour phone consults. When we need IV medication, we have a nurse come to our home for infusions. I works out great and we are very happy. I know our DAN is not the only one that works with patients in other states. Just a thought. > > I s poke with Dr. Neubrander and he is 2 1/2 hours one way from where I > live and he felt it was too far to travel. Guest guest
Please find a way to take him to one of the top DAN drs. It's a pain in the but to get an appt and then to get there. You've tried a lot of options, please give your son this chance. Please keep us posted and contact me offline if I can help you in any way. getting started is the hardest part. Beth > > I need help.
