Initially, I was posting because I thought that my youngest daughter ,Melanee, may have been joining her older sister in the fight against this little known disease. Though that may still be true and is yet unproven, we have another problem on our hands. Mychaela, our oldest daughter, who has been fever free for almost a year, came down with symptoms just yesterday, high fever and sore throat. She will be going into the doctor's office today to begin the battle for dianosis all over again. Have any of you had similar events where you have gone without an episode for so long that you thought that you may be out of the storm only to find out that you may have only found the eye of it. Sorry about the metaphor. The frustration that we have been free from has returned in just a 24 hour period. Back to tylenol, motrin, tylenol, motrin... It semms a never ending cycle. If anyone knows of a doc that we might see that will listen to what we have been through, and may have it in his heart to possibly give us a diagnosis in the Omaha, NE area please get back to me.Thank you for listening to me complain. Guest guest Posted July 22, 2004 Report Share Posted July 22, 2004 It is VERY common, in fact normal and expected to have long breaks (average 1 year) and then have the fever return. We went 22 months with no fever, then a year ago April the came back. We had monthly cycles for 1 year and now fever free since this April '04. Our Ped. ID doc said to expect the breaks and return. We found great relief with the use of Prednisone and to prevent missing too much school, this was a lifesaver. A mystery to us all.
