RE: timespan between fevers (Robin)

Robin,

My son also had fevers very close together. They didn't start off that way,

but when they ended up 10-14 days apart I begged for a tonsillectomy.

Apparently it doesn't work for everybody but it did for us. It took about a

complete

YEAR after the tonsillectomy to get rid of ALL the symptoms. The fever was

the first to go, however, it got weird and he would still cycle but without

fever. Also, each month he would get a new symptom that he'd never had before

like joint pains or stomach pains, etc. (Joint pains became the worst part of

it all.) Almost exactly one year after the tonsillectomy, all of the symptoms

went away. He has been free for over 3 years now!!! My ongoing dilemma,

however, are the two remaining immunizations (Polio and DTAP). Coby, my son,

was given an exemption but it has to be revisited yearly. I've never read

anything about immunizations playing a part in , however, after 2 1/2

years of living through , I' m SCARED TO DEATH that I will set it off

again

since we have NO idea where it came from in the first place! It always seemed

to me to have something to do with the immune system.....that's why I'm

scared to death " to pay " to have live vaccines placed into his body. I guess

once

you go through it all the fear of having to go back NEVER goes away. Also,

we can trace his first symptoms back to his first MMR shot at 15 months old.

He broke out with the chicken pox the next day and that's when everything

started. I don't know if it was a coincidence that these two things occurred

and

then the or if the was a result of those two things

simultaneously hitting his immune system. I'm not sure that we'll ever know for

sure. But,

I do know that I'm scared to death of those last two shots.

My ENT would not allow my son to get a tonsillectomy until he turned 2 yrs

old. Apparently, there is an extremely high risk of them growing back before

this age. (That was my understanding.)
