Guest guest
Jessika went to the dentist today and we got talking about canker sores as she had been plagued by them nonstop for months. She is on reprieve since May when we switched to a toothpaste called Biotene. He recommends it to his older patients with dry mouth problems. anyway.. The dentist said one of his patients suddenly developed cankers nonstop like Jess and started taking acidophillus (sp.) pills from a health food store - 2 pills a day with milk - and the sores stopped. Mentioned this to our ped (who we saw immediately after the dentist for Jess for swimmers ear with her!!) and she said 1 pill 3x a day would be fine if she started again as bad as she was. The toothpaste is working for now so we're not trying it yet. Has anyone tried this before?? success stories?? Best wishes to all, Randi Jessika (age 7) and Tristan's mom Ballston Spa, NY
Guest guest
Randi, That is amazing. I am going to go buy the biotene pronto. I am thinking that maybe the acidophillus could be obtained from yogurt but dont know how much that would require eating. Do you know? Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Hi Randi, Drew was taking acidophilus capsules (used to break them open and put them in his yogurt) because he had recurrent thrush from antibiotics for a long time and the doc suggested this- but he still had mouth sores. I am currently trying biotene toothpaste- he's been on it for a month or so, but got hand foot and mouth, so it's hard to say- I'll let you know with his next episode which should be any day now! Thanks for the tip on the biotene though, I actually could feel a canker sore coming a few weeks ago and tried the biotene continuously for a few days and it did not get any worse and went away faster than usual. I am hoping it helps him! mom to Drew, age
