I want to let everyone know that Mathieu has been diagnosed with Crohn's. I

let Fran know in advance because I was concerned about where I belong. She

has offered me to stay here. If I can answer any questions from anyone

please don't hesitate. Due to his age of only 17 months it is a more

challenging road for us, and it has been since he was born. We finally know

what it is. Even though we are extremely devastated; we have hope that he

will overcome this.

Are they planning to do a biopsy of the colon??

My heart goes out to you.

Fran

Yes, they will do an Upper Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy. They are also going

to a MRI of the Pituitary just to make sue it is in the right place, size

and connections are all good. He will be admitted as a 23 hrr stay to clean

his GI tract with an NG tube. I hate to tdo that, but the other option was

to clear liquid diet for 48 hours. I have 1 older boy and Mathieu loves to

eat. I could not take food away from that child. The procedures will be on

ther 11th of June at 1:15 PM (if procedures before that go on time)

He has been growing a very little bit, but he has low Somatomedin levels

(Growth hormone factor) and even though most likely it is from the Crohn's

they want to make sure we don't have more than problem, since there are

already other issues with his eyes. The eyes also can be from the Crohn's

since he isn't able to absorb the nutrition. He may also have joint pain

which would explain why he is in screaming ALOT.

Hi Jay,

I'm sorry to hear the news about your son's Crohn's disease diagnosis.

Although I'm sure there is some relief to find out what is causing

all his symptoms, but I know from experience that it's very difficult

to hear the diagnosis of a life long condition. Could you please tell

us a bit about Crohn's? We know only a little about it because it was

initially ruled out with Hana's fevers.

I know you'll need support specifically for this condition-There are

quite a few support groups like ours offering support. Here's

the website for the list of Crohn's related groups if you're interested:

Please keep us updated on Mathieu!

All the best, you're in our prayers.
