" Hamilton County sheriff's spokesman Steve Barnett said their medical

problems are one reason for the close watch, but the jail also wants

to make sure they're protected from other inmates.

" It's pretty common knowledge child abusers and child murderers are

kind of at the bottom of the pecking order of jails and prisons, "

Barnett said. " We're obligated to protect them from others and

themselves. "

Obligated to protect them? Yet apparently not ruling out the death

penalty? I know, the whole " day in court " thing, but this just seems

so incredibly perverse. If this little boy's ordeal was anything like

what was described in these articles, then after wrapping and taping

these 2 sick f$cks up, the jail staff charged with " watching " them 2

should toss them into the " closet " with general population and then

just take off for, oh, say, a day-and-a half or so.

I recall previous discussions here about listmates becoming judge and

jury when child-related ugliness hits the press, and not all the facts

are known, but when I read this story and I look over at the pictures

of my son spread all over my desk, my blood boils - anyone who had

anything to do with this poor kid's nightmare, including those who

dumped him in there in the first place, should experience their own

kind of nightmare in turn.

Even worse is when the school does that to your child. My son used to

speak but after being abused by his Jr. High School he stopped. Now

after biomeds and chelation he whispers. If you Google " teachers duct

taping students " you get a bunch of stories about teachers around the

country losing their jobs and some going to jail for doing that with

regular ed kids. But I'm told they can get away with that with our

kids.

My sentiments too. I have read everything I can find on this, and

it is mostly in the local news. The major news stations don't seem

to think it is very news worthy. I am encouraged that the local

community there is outraged and is calling for the death penalty for

these people. The are raising money to build a $500,000 dollar

playground for children with autism. I am also surprised at the lack

of discussion in autism lists/forums. There is some but we should

be the group that is speaking out about this the most. This list

has recently discussed runners and that is what Marcus was. It is

what caused the removal from his home in the first place, and he

continued to run from previous foster homes before this one. All

over the country county CPS are taking children with autism away

from their parents for this reason.

Local news only? I couldn't believe it! So, I did an online search.

You sure are right - a little blip on CNN and MSN, but mostly local.

If the country knew, they would be outraged by this evil act.

Unfortunately, as terrible as this sounds, parents killing their

children with autism isn't " news " anymore. There have been so many

this year already.

In away I am no so sure I would want a lot of publicity on this

because if it is the usual story it would just present us all as a

bunch of psychos in need of more interference from the schools, CPS,

police, doctors and all the other helping professions that do so

much for our kids.

Lets not forget, this was done by THE FOSTER PARENTS. To me this is

why our children needs to be with the parents if at all possible and

parents needs help! Most of all parents need to know there is always

HOPE! One think that has always helped me is when child has a

autistic moment and if he was not autistic I should be upset with

him I ask myself if he was in a wheel chair would I get mad at him

because he can not walk. This is what would I will tell someone if

they ever tell me " if you spank him he will mind you " I will tell

them, SO if he was in a wheel chair and I spanked him, will that

make him walk and then see what they say.

That's the point; he had already been taken away and was in foster

care.

Looks like it only makes news if the family has money.

, Marcus was NOT killed by his parents. He was killed by his

fosters.

They could have made a phone call to have someone else take him

while they went on vacation. But, they wouldn't have been paid for

those 2 days.

Another thing that is making local news are the questions of how

they even qualified to be foster parents. But, he was placed by

a " faith-based " organization, so if that made national news, it

might make the president look bad.

It really is a terrible situation.

There was a wonderful little girl in my ASD son's class a few years

back. My son always referred to her as his girlfriend. She was

very high functioning - actually I don't think she even had autism -

and she had a foster sister who always clung to my husband

whenever we attended school functions. They were both placed in a

home with severeal other foster kids.

One day, after she had repeatedly failed to complete her homework,

she told the school social worker that she and the other kids were

forced to stay in an unheated basement, and had no bed to sleep on

or bathroom to use. The kids were removed from the home, and it was

all over the news. We were devastated to think how long these kids

were neglected. The mother received something like $3,000 per month

to care for those kids. When asked why they were locked in the

basement she told the authorities that they were too much for her to

handle.
