This is great news! I am a little worried that an epidemical study

by the Government would be manipulated to get the results they want.

Even if it doesn't pass, it will give us a scorecard of who is in

the pocket of big pharma.I wonder how the enemy is going to spin

this?

Lobbyist to congressman- " We don't believe this type of study will be

fair to our company. The only unvaccinated population here in the US

would be the Amish, and there are many confounding variables taht

would cause a skewed result, such as the Amish do not have

electricity, which could be a possible cause of Autism. Also,

perhaps the Dutch do not have the same genetic suceptability to

autism as the general poplulation. Finding a link could cause a

court to be sympathetic to the parents of the Autistic child, which

a lower court could use as causation. Unlimited lawsuits would

bankrupt our company and leave America vulnerable to a biological

attack, which is something I don't think your constituants want. "

I think this is going to be the argument the enemy uses, and we

should think of a way to circumvent it before they get a chance,

because we need this bill and others like it to pass. I want to

thank everyone who worked hard to get it submitted, as it gets us in

the ballgame. Now we need to think of the best approach we need to

take to win the ballgame.

Ed, I share your concern that an epidemiological study commissioned by

the government may be controlled by those who want to find a negative

outcome. But consider these provisions in the bill that help insure

insure that investigators will be objective, free of bias and conflicts

of interest:

( QUALIFICATIONS.—With respect to each investigator carrying out the

study under this section, the Secretary shall ensure that the

investigator

(1) is objective;

(2) is qualified to carry out such study, as evidenced by training

experiences and demonstrated skill;

(3) is not currently employed by any Federal, State, or local public

health agency; and

(4) is not currently a member of a board, committee, or other entity

responsible for formulating immunization policy on behalf of any

Federal, State, or local public health agency or any component thereof;

(5) has no history of a strong position on the thimerosal controversy;

and

(6) is not currently an employee of, or otherwise directly or

indirectly receiving funds from, a pharmaceutical company.

Are you familiar with whatever happened to 2005 S. 1602? From what I've read about it it creates an option to include Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) as part of a state's Medicaid plan which could potentially wipe out the 14,000+ Med Waivers waiting list here in Florida. Most of the 14,000+ are part of the autism epidemic and have no resources for their children.

I understand it's really a great bill.

Exactly. hopefully they wont try and bastardize this like they are

the CAA. I could see them end up wanting to comparing kids that

have just been vaccinated with Hib and MMR against kids with all the

childhood vaccines. Then they could say, " Look, the autism rate is

virtually the same. The vaccines aren't the problem, better look

elsewhere " .

Exactly. hopefully they wont try and bastardize this like they are the CAA. I could see them end up wanting to comparing kids that have just been vaccinated with Hib and MMR against kids with all the childhood vaccines. You mean it's not under medicaid in Florida? Wow - I can't see any

other way for the HCBW to be funded. Here in NY that's the way we

do it. We also have something called OPTS which pays for things

like mortgages so that your child can live in his own house with

supports when he's older. We have everything paid for by HCBW and

I'm the coordinator of my son's program, not some agency. - But

that's a pilot program I'm doing for NY State. It's been a god send

so far and I suggest anyone living in any state that does not have

it set up this way to fight for it as much as you can.
