Splenda is molecularly altered sugar. It is not

anything like aspartame which is pure chemicals.

They are only similar in that they are both sweet and both artificial.

Sucralose (Splenda) is sucrose (table sugar) with three chlorine atoms

attached. The secret manufacturing process uses chlorine gas and

phosgene. Aspartame (NutraSweet/Equal) is a molecule of phenylalanine

and aspartic acid held together by a methyl group forming an ester of

these two amino acids, a peptide. Sucralose is not digested and just

passes through the system after triggering the sweet taste. Aspartame

breaks down on digestion into the two amino acids. If cooked, it can

form methanol and formaldehyde. However, these are at lower

concentrations than you typically find in citrus fruit.

Do you have a problem with splenda? I don't use it very much at

all.. I use to use it at least once a day in a drink like tea or

somthing.. I do buy ice cream with splenda once in a great while..

I'd buy it more if I could find it, maybe. I'm getting ready to make

a blackberry pie in the morning with splenda.

I don't use splenda anymore. I have learned that if God didn't make

it, it probably aint good for ya. Like I said, my mom ended up with a

brain tumor after years of artificial sweetner use. Did you ever read

the article I sent? Pretty crazy stuff huh?

You could try stevia or even agave nectar (Dr. Oz from Oprah says this is so

much better than sugar for people who can't deal with sugar) Blessings!

Stevia (also called sweetleaf, sweet leaf or sugarleaf) is a genus of about

150 species of herbs and shrubs in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to

subtropical and tropical South America and Central America. As a sweetener,

stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar,

although some of its extracts may have a bitter or liquorice-like aftertaste at

high concentrations.

With its extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has

garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food

alternatives. Stevia also has shown promise in medical research for treating

such conditions as obesity[1] and high blood pressure.[2][3] Stevia has a

negligible effect on blood glucose, even enhancing glucose tolerance,[4]

therefore it is attractive as a natural sweetener to diabetics and others on

carbohydrate-controlled diets.[5] However, health and political controversies

have limited stevia's availability in many countries; for example, the United

States banned it in the early 1990s. Stevia is widely used as a sweetener in

Japan, and it is now available in the US and Canada as a dietary supplement,

although not as a food additive. Rebiana is the trade name for a stevia-derived

sweetener being developed jointly by The Coca-Cola Company and Cargill with the

intent of marketing in several countries and gaining

regulatory approval in the US and EU

There continue to be attempted postings questioning the safety of Splenda.

In our " links " section we have a link to a summary of the safety ratings of

the various sweetners. Please read it rather than ask the same questions

that have been addressed here before.

Which leads me to wonder if anyone is reading my posts :-)))
