Guest guest Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Dear Ange, Yes, we have a holistic family doctor who is a D.O. and we have a DAN! doc who is also an allergist/immunologist. But during this particular round of illness, both these doctors were booked solid. Usually, our family doctor has a PA that we can get into to see and they are familiar and understanding of Ethan's situation. But her PA quit and she was booked and the DAN! doc was booked far in advance and my son needed help immediately. Our family doctor saw Ethan today and helped a lot. She apologized for not being able to see Ethan and now she has hired an N.P. and there should not be a problem with getting Ethan in when he is sick. This is the first time during an illness that we haven't been able to get in to see one or the other. I guess we learn as we go along. First, stick with doctors who understand what is going on with our kids. Next, if a doctor says something that sounds ridiculous (Like, "your son is obese" when my son has a BMI of only 18) then it probably is ridiculous. As parents, we have to really trust our instincts regarding our children. I knew from past experience that my son did not respond well to steroids and I should have pushed for a better solution. If he is going to be in respiratory distress without them I may have no choice, but I'm sure going to be hoping that it is indeed a yeast issue. Ethan was so much better today. Thank you and God bless, haven Quote
