Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Who cares what Frist said? Of course he is going to paint autism as some horrible awful thing from birth on. How many times has he tried to get " secret " legislation through to block us from seeking retribution for our damaged children? Of course he hasn't changed his tune. Imus is playing it smart. He is giving the guy the benefit of the doubt. His wife has become a major crusader for our kids. Hell, Dr. Frist gave her 15 mintues of his time on the phone yesterday apologizing profusely for the fact he is an ass! No matter what Imus will know if Frist is lying and deceiving and working behind the scenes to undermine what the Combatting Autism Act is supposed to be about- getting to the truth. If and when he double crosses the Imus's, he'll never hear the end of it! Imus has the forum to expose him and his BS. Imus has a slew of senators, reps and media people on his show constantly. He'll never shut up about it! He'll discuss it with everyone! First, Frist must be given the opportunity to change his ways, be true to his word (which BTW I don't believe he is capable of). Time will tell. What's the saying keep your friends close and your enemies closer? > > He also said that these parents get discouraged because their children won't cuddle them and shun any physical contact. You know what that is leading up to! The fact that we are all desperate for a cure and try all these unproven things like chelation which won't " work " because mercury doesn't cause autism. > At least that is what I would expect all that to lead to. Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 I believe it was Frist in his speech on the Senate floor. Imus quickly read what Frist said on the show this morning. It was something that sounded like it came from a text book twenty years ago, very stereo-typical. No known cause, no known cure....Heartbreaking mystery... > > > He also said that these parents get discouraged because their children > > won't cuddle them and shun any physical contact. Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Dr. Frist is combatting Methyl-amphetamines as well as combatting autism. I clicked on the meth speech and then found the autism one Geez, he's a busy guy! > > > > > He also said that these parents get discouraged because their > children > > > won't cuddle them and shun any physical contact. Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Sure, children are born with autism -- if they're BORN WITH MERCURY POISONING. Like my son... fetal tissue absorbing outgassing and grindings from Mom's mercury amalgam tooth fillings, then walloped with Thimerosal from RhoGam shots. Then regressing with each TCV, in his case most noticeable at 6 months and 18 months. Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 I think she seemed nervous when she first started speaking. Guest guest Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 I have enormous respect for Deirdre Imus and her dedication to the welfare of our children. I do not, however, believe it is a slip of the tongue. The reason for her statement, " born with autism " is a lack of intimate understanding and familiarity with the problems of our children. The concept of " born with autism " or " regressive autism " is too central to our issue to be the result of a " sip of the tongue. " When certain people go to Congress and speak about our children, but are not intimately familiar with what is happening, then " slips of the tongue " are inevitable. The " born with autism " issue is critical and we must do everything in our power to make sure that the world knows that many, if not most, of our children were not " born with autism. " (Even though I note and agree with H.'s point that this can occur in some cases with in utero toxic exposure, or in very rare cases Thalidomide exposure, or even rarer Fragile X.) We must educate those who take up our cause and decide to speak for us how they should frame the issue, better, we should speak for ourselves and not let others, no matter how influential, moneyed or powerful they may be, be our surrogates. I do not blame Deirdre Imus for this, but we need to make sure that " slips of the tongue " do not continue. All the above having been stated I am very glad Deirdre Imus has taken an interest in our children. Her heart is in the right place and certain Senators fear her influence. Personally, I think we're still at a point where an appearance such as Deidre Imus' this morning is more helpful than the " slip of the tongue " is hurtful, in regards to keeping the autism issue in the mainstream eye. I hope someday leaders in the autism-vaccine camp are invited on TV to educate everyone, but in the meantime, we could do worse with those people of influence who are making an effort now. Quote

You are probably right. Deirdre Imus is very good for us and I do appreciate her effort for our children.
