Re: NEW STUDY - Testing Chemical Burden in Children:

As a geriatric nurse...I see patients with many " old-age " illnesses like

alzheimer's, parkinson's, and depression / psychosis / demetias of various

types.

THat said, I have observed of our nation as a whole to be more YOUTH

priented than caring about afflictions of old age and thus see little

intervention aside from perscription medications given to the elderly to

treat their symptoms.

A couple of points here for consideration and discussion:

1. If our children benifit so much from dietary / supplement intervention,

why not these old folks? How much better to give them all fish oil or

vitamin E than a pill like Aricept (Alzheimer's med), etc.

2. Has anyone done / seen research on family histories as it relates to the

kids now afflicted with Austism / ADD / ADHD / depression, etc? What do I

mean? For instance, is there a family member (same or different gender but

related by blood) that has a corrosponding dementia / Alzheimer;s /

depression? When was the on-set, etc?

I wonder this because it seems that I read all this focus on the kids,

neccisarrily, but little talk about possible injury to parents and their

parents before them. Take my family. Mom and dad are in their 50's, neither

currently with a diagnosed mental condition, but both immunized to the

extent that they were suggested, both with dental fillings, both with

allergies including for my mother (and myself) a known metal allergy as

evidenced by an inability to wear earrings. My maternal great-grandmother

probably had alzheimer's dementia (organic brain syndrome). My paternal side

is less documented...

so what right? Well what if there is an environmental factor like THimerisol

that cause genetic insult that is expressed a generation or more later and

didn;t cause immediate apparent harm to mom or grandma, but eventually

expresses itself as alzheimer's / demetia / depression, etc later in life.

And how much more damage do we do to these people when we encourage annual

flu vaccinations and every 5 year pnueonia shots?

Do parents of these kids also take supplements or at least have themselves

evaluated for defficiencies?

Some of these thoughts were provoked by reading that the Amish don't have

many cases of Autism...their kids aren't vaccinated, they weren't vaccinated

and neither were their parents! They also are likely to have been as highly

exposed to many of the modern chemicals in " technologically advanced "

homes....their chemical burden is probably a lot lower...although I would

imagine they expose themselves to fertilizers (maybe they just use manure -

it would be cheaper) and therefore would have elderly with Parkinson's.

Would love to hear discussion on this if anyone has any thoughts???

Also would love to see a parent / grand parent survey along with the ARI E2

form :)
