I'm glad I'm not the only one! Maybe we should start a support group -

online of course!

I about fell over when I found out my Medicare agreed to pay for a tiny

potion of my new wheelchair. All other equipment expenses and

wheelchair repairs have been 'out-of-pocket' if MDA doesn't cover it.

I get the same story too. Ugh!

Bleeck! Our insurance is about to change again soon, since Lee quit his

job to become a fulltime college student. I'll soon be on Medicare

ONLY! Geez, I hope my medical equipment and health hold together until

he's working again. Well, actually, it'd be good if they permanantly

held out, but I settle for the next few years right now.

For those who do not work, I'm wondering if you ever get

rude/inconsiderate comments from people such as how " lucky " you are

to not have to work, to get to " sleep all day and watch soap

operas " and receive " free " money from the govt. I get these

comments ALL the time, from family and friends even and when I

explain how I wish I could do for myself more, they still continue

to say how " great it must be " for me. I find this incredibly

insulting, as if I'm some sort of lazy bum. I would love to hear

how others respond to this.

Hey Laurn,

Yea, I get the " I wish I could stay home all day and do nothing " crap too.

It's usually mostly from my brother who's never home (he has work, school, ect)

so when he comes home after a long day and sees me " doing nothing, " he

comments on it. I don't " do nothing " all day but b/c he's never here, he doesn't

see

it. I'm in college and have tons of homework, I help my other brother and

sister with their homework, and I do a million other things too. Then there's

dealing all the medical stuff. He just doesn't understand that it's not a walk

in

the park. It's as if this was some sort of conscience choice on my part or

something. Like I woke up one day and decided that I was going to stay home and

be a lazy bum. He even calls me up sometimes and will ask for a favor. When I

tell him that I can't do it because I'm busy doing something else, he just

laughs it off as if that was hard for him to fathom. So yea, you're not the only

one who gets it.
