Guest guest
From Maureen McDonnell: Kirby author of Evidence of Harm to deliver keynote at The Defeat Autism Now! Conference to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina July 16th and 17th Please help us spread the word! To meet the requests of many parents and professionals who have difficulty leaving their children and or practices to attend the larger 4 day Defeat Autism Now! conferences, the DAN! team has created the Mini DAN! format. On July 16th and 17th there will be a Mini DAN! in Charlotte, North Carolina. During this two day event physicians and nurses will provide parents and professionals with the best of what DAN! has to offer in terms of biomedical approaches to treating children on the autism spectrum. For Parents: On Saturday July 16th following Kirby's keynote address Mumper, MD Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia, a practicing pediatrician and the Medical Director of the Mini DANs will be joined by Dr. O'Hara (also a pediatrician and experienced DAN! clinician), Hanaway, MD (an expert on the relationship between the gut and autism) and Maureen McDonnell, RN (DAN! conference coordinator). This seasoned team will capture the essence of DAN! by presenting practical information on the most current research, relevant tests, and most importantly, safe and effective interventions for treating children on the autism spectrum. Parents will also be shown valuable interventions that they can begin on their own, methods for working with their pediatrician as well as the benefits of seeking the help of an experienced DAN! clinician For Practitioners: On Sunday July 17th (the second day of the Mini DAN!) local physicians are invited to attend a full day intensive training. During this session, the DAN! faculty will share their knowledge and experience regarding diagnostic evaluations, performing a physical examination specific to this population, identifying subgroups, prioritizing treatments, appropriate testing and methods for interpreting lab data. Additionally, information on treating common features of the autistic population including intestinal dysbiosis, nutritional imbalances, peptide dysregulation, inefficient detoxification mechanisms, immune dysfunction and heavy metal toxicity, will all be reviewed. Continuing Education credits are available for MDs For additional information on topics, speakers and registration, please go to www.DANconference.com
