Tubing vs. resistance band

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these and if they are or are not interchangeable. I see Cathe's Basic Step + Body Fusion uses tubing and while I'm not buying it right away, it is on my wish list, especially if I can find it cheaper than retail (ebay or elsewhere). I want to know if I'll also need to buy tubing, I already have 2 "stretchie bands" from .
