Hi Lynda, Can you tell me what the difference is between oriental rice and say

the regular long grain, MJB or something similar? Also flax seed was suggested

as an alternative to rice which also sounds interesting.

A friend of mine makes these with wheat.. and it smells great when heated..

I really should have explained myself better! I get the long grain

white rice from an oriental grocery, you can get 25 pound bags for next

to nothing. That is why I get it there, it is so much cheaper than a

regular grocery store. And the reason I don't use the flax seed is that

eventually it goes rancid from the flax oil in the seeds. Gets to

smelling awful, my husband made me throw my hot pack out that was made

with flax seed, because of the smell. Some people use corn, also, and

some people use wheat, which I don't use because of those people with

wheat allergies. You will find that 1/4 cup herb mix in your hot pack

(depending on the size, that is for a big one) is plenty, and the herbs

will stay fragrant for a very long time.
