Guest guest Posted August 19, 2006 Report Share Posted August 19, 2006 Hi Nevin, We are looking into premature puberty with my son at the moment, because he is very big for his age (four a week ago, in age 6 clothes) and has hair growing on his body and sweat glands/sweating under arms (too young apparently). I do not wish to worry you but my research threw up that kids like my son shoot up and then their growth slows down to various levels ranging from ok to not so ok. We spoke to Dr Heard and he said it would be outside his remit, but that he could test for hormones soch as testosterone. He also said that you need a specialist paediatrician for this rather than the usual one - and my research is throwing up that the only true reliable test is bone age.
