Guest guest Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I got the full DAN! panel paid for by Bupa (£1350). However, I think they made an error, as they told me the maximum they pay out for outpatients tests is £500, so I've not dared to ask them for anything else in case they look into it! Guest guest Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Hi I thought it depended on your diagnosis. We used our then private medical insurance to get a thorough diagnosis (by the way to answer an earlier question too, that was with Dr Gillian Baird and the speech therapist Aurial Drew at Ashtead near Epsom, and it was very good but I think they limit their resources to the under fives). It was my understanding that the insurance company then won't touch anything which is related to the autism diagnosis. Diane, are you getting the DAN testing paid for by using some other diagnositic category? Please share your secret. And well done you! Guest guest Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Yes, I told them I wanted investigations into my son's bowel problems (perfectly true!), for which we had received NHS testing with no abnormalities found, but he still had bowel problems, I saw my GP and explained this to him, so he didn't mention autism in the referral letter, in fact he said (sarcastically) 'of course autism is NOTHING to do with bowel problems!' As I mentioned, I only got the DAN! panel paid for (ION panel, Krypto, CSAP, FACT, histamine, secretory sigA, hair minerals and functional blood chemistry). Since this was paid, which obviously helped out a lot, I have had to pay for everything else myself. Diane Re: Private medical insurance Hi I thought it depended on your diagnosis.
