Walking and orthotics

Thanks Gretchen for the tip. I have been to see my magic orthotists, Tim

and Ellen, and they have been trying to fix the problems. Funny that yoga

has helped to stretch my feet out, which led me to a recast, which was

shaped by a different orthotist than my original, thus the bizarre feeling.

I have been very specific about what is not correct, and have had my second

set being redone now – the last cast was fine, although too high under my

arch, so rubbed too much in long walks. I totally agree – a good orthotic,

and good communication with the people who make them, makes all of the

difference in the world!

Today I finished my walk – an additional 25k (17 miles) – and was done in

about 6 and a half hours from setting off (including the lunch break). It

was such a strange feeling. Everyone there was walking the same at the end

– foot drops, limps, you name it! Talk about the great equaliser. When I

crossed into the finish area, it was so emotionally overwhelming – making me

think of all of my friends and family with breast cancer – all of the aches

seemed so worth it, knowing that the walk had raised about £5.1 million

pounds (that is about $9 million)!

My task tonight is to update my websites. When these are done I will send

out the link to you all!
