Tami:

The condition is called PANDAS and is farily well

known among pediatricians. See

http://www.cidpusa.org/PANDAS.htm for further

information. The strep infection alters function of

brain areas that cause OCD symptoms and often becomes

worse with repeated infections. I think you will

find the above website helpful. If your child's

doctor is unfamiliar with it you might print out the

information from this site and share it with her/him.

Hi Tami,

Do a search on "PANDAS +strep -bear" it will get you to the site for PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders related to strep).

Also, you may find help by joining the list. Check out www.nids.net or www.neuroimmunedr.com.

Good luck!Heidi

My son goes through phases where his repetitive behaviors are much worse. I recently read that strep can cause OCD behaviors. This seems to fit with my son because I did really notice his repetitive behaviors increasing before he got strep. Does anyone else have this problem or know what to do about it?

Thank you! I put a call in to my son's doctor and I will read up on

this condition. I'll let the group know what I find out.
