Guest guest
Adrienne, I had the same problem with Evan and Risperdal. The doctor that put him on it denied that it had any thing to do with his problems peeing the bed or his pants. I finally did a web search and took him the information that it was an unusal side effect. He has finally quuit wetting his pants but still wets the bed at night. He used to could drink any amount and be dry in the morning. Not anymore. Guest guest
Betty, it is so sad what the side effects of these medicines do to these kids. Karac is having a terrible time right now because we had to take him off of the Geodon because he developed tardis dyskinesia. He was doing so well on the med. No w I don't know what we are going to do because all of those antipsychotic medicines have the potential for tardis dyskinesia and Geodon was suppose to be the one that was least likely to cause it. However, I had thought the ped. psy. had started it at too high a dosage. Pat K
Guest guest
My son matthew is on Geodon. How long has your son been on it, and what was the dosage. How long before the symptoms showed up, was the dosage ever increased? Thanks Bonnie ===============pkuenstler@... wrote: Betty, it is so sad what the side effects of these medicines do to these kids. Guest guest
My son has been on Geodon for over a year, one 20mg capsule daily. We give it to him before bed. He doesn't have side effects like he did on Risperdal. Guest guest
Karac, my grandson was on risperdal about 6 months and changed to Geodon about 6 months ago. He was taking 60mgs at night and 20mgs in the morning. I was concerned to begin with that they started him with 60mgs at night. My daughter-in-law loved it because it made him go to sleep at 8:30 and sleep until about 6:30 or 7:00. it also controlled his aggression, but I think he would have done just as well with 20mg at night and 20mg in the morning; then I don't think we would have had the problem with the tardis dyskineia. I repeatedly tried to warn her about the possibility of tardis dyskineia with any of these antipsychotic drugs. Geodon is suppose to be the one that is least likely to cause it. Now, I don't know what we are going to do. I don't have a bit of confidence in the ped. psy. that she takes Karac too. What dosage is your son on? Guest guest
You are wise. That is what I wanted for karac and I think we would never have had this side effect. Pat K
Guest guest
Yes, I have heard the possibility of the side effect for the heart. Pat K
Guest guest
will be on Geodon one year come Novemeber. He takes half the 20 mg capsule in the morning and the other half at night. We have not seen any of the side effects we did with the Risperdal either. But the side effects did not appear till a few months after increasing the dosage.
