Guest guest
Kids and I were in a car " crack " , as put it, yesterday. Everyone is FINE and it was not my fault (we were rear ended) My car has been totalled by the insurance company. It was 12 years old, and had more than $2000 worth of damage, the car was only worth $1800-$1900. I am taking the kids to the peds for a check out though. says his neck hurts and says her back hurts. I did call her ortho last night, and they said if she kept complaining they would take a film, but to try warm heat and tylenol first. I honestly could not tell if her back hurt from the accident - where she had been strapped in her car seat that has extra padding, and was wearing a winter coat - or from the playing. She had said her back hurt earlier, but I felt the ortho should be made aware of the situation. Not fun, but we are thankful everyone was ok! Guest guest
Sorry to hear about the accident, but it's good that no one was seriously injured. I hope and are okay. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Gail, I am sooo glad you and the kids were not hurt. Please let me know what the docs say after they get checked out. I hope that all that padding kept 's Veptrs from harm. So do you get a new car out of this? What a way to start off the holiday season!!! Guest guest
Kids are fine. did have some muscle tightness in his neck, but nothing serious. 's back looks good. I am sure the extra padding helped. All I can say is: if you do not follow the guidelines in your state for car seats (in Ohio it is 4 years and 40 lbs for 5 pt. harness and 8 years and 80 lbs for booster - all kids until 12 years of age in the back seat) then you are a FOOL! By all accounts this was a pretty minor accident, however, the floor of the van buckled, and as such the bench seat that the kids have their car seats on became un-latched from the floor. Imagine what could have happened to my kids if they had not been properly restrained? I will post some pics of the van in 's folder in a bit. Guest guest
Wow. Scary about the floor of the van. I plan to keep my kids in carseats for as long as I can. Guest guest
Gail, I am glad that you all are fine. Couldnt agree with you more on your car seat comments. Hard to believe that when we were younger, car seats didnt even exist. " Back in the olden days " , as Olivia would say.
