I believe Phosphagen is just plain creatine powder.

PhosphagenHP is plain creatine plus a boatload of sugar, over 30g.

That's to spike your insulin levels and theoretically improve uptake

but for most people that's unnecessary, just extra calories and

counterproductive to fat loss.

Betagen is creatine, HMB, glutamine, taurine, B vitamins, and

antioxidants like C and E in a flavored drink mix with no sugar. It's

great for muscle recovery. Kind of pricey compared to plain powder but

I've always had more dramatic results with the Betagen. Orange is my

favorite flavor.

Did you see the big collection of Betagen and Creatine posts:

http://www.skwigg.com/id53.html

That might give you some more info. If you're not a fanatical scale

watcher it's probably fine to start taking it. It will make a

difference in your strength and muscle recovery right away.

Some people completely wig if they get at all bigger or heavier

though, and creatine will definitely give you fuller muscles and make

you gain some scale weight initially. The fat loss will overtake the

muscle gain again pretty quickly and the scale will start dropping

again, but any weight gain or clothes feeling tighter can be very

discouraging to someone who's already struggling. Creatine is visibly

the most dramatic if you're already thin-skinned enough to see your

muscles.

So, it's kind of a personal call. You're the only one who knows

whether having bigger, stronger muscles will give you a mental and

physical edge or just freak you out. :-)
