**The experts view it as unlikely that radiation from the damaged Japanese

nuclear reactors will pose a serious health risk elsewhere, even if the

situation there worsens.**

Potassium iodide is not recommended for people in the U.S. or elsewhere

outside Japan.

Dr. Weil has released _a statement about radiation protection_

(http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400903/Protection-Against-Radiation.html) in

regard to the Japan disaster. I consider Dr. Weil to be one of the most, if

not the most, credible integrative physicians in the world. He understands

fully both modern allopathic medicine and traditional herbal medicine, and

he does his homework based on solid scientific inquiry. I trust his advice.

**I’ve been closely following the dreadful events in Japan, and the

comments of nuclear and radiation authorities in the United States. The experts

view it as unlikely that radiation from the damaged Japanese nuclear

reactors will pose a serious health risk elsewhere, even if the situation there

worsens. If radioactive particles eventually reach the U.S, the levels will

be much too low to be of concern.**

He does NOT recommend people in California or elsewhere in the U.S. take

take potassium iodide. **You shouldn’t take any at all unless and until you

know that there is an immediate radiation hazard,** he writes, pointing out

that there is no radiation hazard in the U.S. from the Japan disaster.

**My suggestion is that in this instance, Americans should pay attention

not to themselves, but rather to helping the Japanese overcome a truly

hazardous situation that may take years or even decades to resolve,** he writes.

**The _Charity Navigator’s_

(http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=content.view & cpid=1221) website

has detailed information and charity

ratings for those wishing to donate to the Japanese relief efforts.**
