Guest guest
i am strengthened by all of you and your words. i have firm belief in God, i find much consolation whenever i call out to Him. i have no doubt he hears our cries and in fact he cries with us. He doesn't want any of us to suffer, but he may use this experience to make us more pure, more loving and help others like you all do everyday for me and each other. but the road is still extremely tough. i think i've cried everyday for the past 3 weeks b/c of the pain and also relationships that have been suffering b/c of it. i am single, 30 and trying to keep up with the rigors of grad school... considering moving back home w/ my parents who have been soooooo supportive! i'm lucky in so many senses. i realize that i have to be more proactive about improving my situation. just to answer some ?'s: i was explanted by dr. melmed on june 30th. it's 2 months post-op now and the pain is still very much present in my wrist, elbows, knees, (esp. when i bend), and most recently my breasts. the only other symptoms i had going into the explant was two episodes of rapid heartbeat and profuse sweating after taking a shower at night. i thought i was going to have a heart attack! good thing is those never came back, and also my period has been back to its normal heavy flow. (in the past, i didn't have it for one whole year, and it's been off and on sometimes missing a month here or there). all blood tests results are normal... no rheumatologic disorders clinically either. it's just the darn prickly sharp and/or burning pain in the mentioned areas. exercise actually makes things worse, as does any manipulation of my body like massage. i used to be step aerobics queen, work out 4 days/week. but now i just walk about 20 minutes/day for school. after massage or cupping i always feel like crap the next day. (cupping is the eastern tradition of sucking blood and supposedly the toxins found in your blood. it is a direct form of detox through the skin, you may have seen gwyneth paltrow with marks on her back b/c of it). so i'm staying away from both! my sleep is very unstable. and it is all anxiety related. i'm taking neurontin for my pain which does help a bit, it also helps me sleep as i believe it's anxiolytic. but as with patty, i really try to stay away from any drugs and rely on natural ways or even endure the pain. that may be foolish i know. some things i plan to do: incorporate more organic foods in my diet (i already am an obsessive healthy eater - tons of fruits/veggies), keep walking, get my sleep in order (i'm looking into psychiatrists and psychologists right now), pray 30 minutes/day, and take weekly epsom baths. i just took my first one now after hearing from you all and it feels so good! i've never done any detox or fasting so i'm a little wary, but i'll look into it. my brother is also suggesting i check out norm shealy's institute of chronic pain center in missouri. also there are some fibromyalgia support groups that meet monthly. i hope we all continue to hope and look forward to the day we will all be delievered from this. some of my favorite words to pray over: the serenity prayer " God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference " and also a verse from the book of Proverbs that goes something like " Trust in the Lord in all His ways and lean not on your own understanding... for He makes straight your paths... " chapter 3 verse 5. lisa
Guest guest
, Have you had your thyroid checked out. Implants messed up are thyroids with a lot of us. And that can cause joint pain too. Maybe it could be as simple as that. Hang in there. You will get better. It just takes awhile to put all the puzzle pieces together. Guest guest
Just wanted to tell you that right after explant I felt fantastic for about 10 days. Then I went downhill for a while - much worse than before I got them out. I think explant kind of stirred things up. I was so scared and totally depressed. I almost thought I had done something wrong by getting them out. But, everyone here encouraged me so much - letting me know it was totally normal! Anyway, I am now almost 9 months post-explant and I am feeling great! I still have some flares here and there, but for the most part I am a lot better. My daughter says I'm 70% better. She knows how bad I was, so I trust her rating! Last year at this time I was applying for disability, I slept 20 hours a day, cried non-stop and basically didn't want to wake up anymore. Now I sleep 8-9 hours, I exercise every day by riding a stationary bike for around 20 minutes (almost 6 miles), I cook and clean, I go shopping and take care of a bunch of kids, stuff I never thought I could do again. I'm not totally healed, but I thank God for this group and for all the info I found here that lead me to get my implants out and helped me to get better. Hang in there! God is in control, remember that. Guest guest
Hi Pam, I appreciate the forewarning of the up, then down, syndrome, AFTER explantation. I guess I'm used to that after 17 years of implants, but am VERY VERY tired of it all. The support here is sooooooooooo helpful. It's nice to be able to ask ANYTHING without fear. I thank you for the encouragement. I also appreciate the reminder of God being in control. You are absolutely right about that, and of the importance to remember that all times, bad AND good! Thanks again! Ann
