---Hello Pam, good to hear from you. Good luck on the finshing of

your basement. Sounds like fun! I love to decorate. I take .5mg of

xanax to sleep. VERY RARELY I may need another half, and if I do, the

next night I take my .5mgs. It seems to be working fine for me, as I

do not have to keep on increasing the dose. I know some people say

they get addicted. I have been on it for almost 3 yrs. I am not sure

if that is what is making you edgy?? How long have you been taking

the xanax??? Could be a possibilty. From my own experience, I

get 'mood swings also'. Not so often anymore, though. I have learned

that if I do get them, I try to stay away from my loved ones(as I do

not want to take it out on them) The first 2 yrs of my illness, the

mood swings were bad. I think my whole body chemistry/immune system

was so 'off'.I had mood swings BEFORE the xanax. I never had mood

swings before I was ill though. Let me know how it goes. OK? peace,

hugs, and health. TERRY

I've only been taking the Xanax for a few months now. The edgy

feeling started not too long ago. I swear, I feel like kicking my

dog sometimes, ya know? That's terrible to say and I wouldn't do it,

but I feel like doing it and that's just as bad! I'll try 1 & 1/2

xanax tonight and see if I sleep good. Then I'll go back to the

normal dose tomorrow. I don't want to have to increase it, but I

have to sleep. I flare so bad when I don't get sleep.

I used to get 'mood swings' when I had periods. But since the

hysterectomy I don't get them anymore. This feeling lately is sort

of like a bad pms day I guess, but it comes and goes several times a

day. I don't like it at all!

A sleep disorder may well respond as well to anti-depressants as addictive

drugs like Xanax. I would check into it.

---Hey Pam, I know what you mean about if you do not get sleep, you

will flare. ME TOO.In fact a big turn around in my health was when I

started to sleep well, by taking the xanax. In fact I used to

sometimes have to take Restoril on top of that(it is a sleep pill). I

have not had a restoril in over 1 year! I had tried a bunch of

alternative stuff, and it just did not help at all. It is the only

med I take. I would love to get off of it someday, but I also love to

get a good nights sleep! I just think for me that the mood swings

are a part of this Fibro, CFS stuff, from what research I have done.

I Iused to post alot on Fibro and CFS boards alot. I know exactly how

you feel. Have you had some recent bloodwork done, just to rule out

if something else is going on?? What other meds are you taking? Maybe

the combo of a few meds is doing that to you? just a thought. Double

check, and make sure your bloodwork is ok..Hope you find some answers.

Hugs. TERRY
