Guest guest
Yes, I get dizzy too. It started maybe twelve years ago. Just every once in awhile. I remember it lasting a couple of weeks or sometimes days. Now, I experience dizziness sometimes with a headache and sometimes without. > > For the most part I > > ignored it, made stupid/lame excuses for why I couldn't participate > in > > the few > > activities that I was unable to do. Guest guest
Hi and welcometo thr group. My name is Terry, I am 34 Type III and I still walk good but can see a major strength difference from just a few years ago. I was dx at age 30. I first showed a sign at age 8. I am also a Father of 4 and a single parent. The depression when you give something up is hard. Even though you know you have a disease it's kinda a it's not going to happen to me. I hate giving things up. I took my 8 year old hunting by our house the other day and 100 yards into a thick grass field i was worn out. I fell hard and just didn't have what I needed to walk through it. I was in a car wreck 13 years ago and broke my back in 2 places, my right femur, torn me knee up and it can't be fixed and internal stuff. That has made things worse for sure. I have a lot of back pain but manage it with meds. I have broken my feet 4 times in the last 3 years and toes, well I lost count. Now the part about hiding it or hiding it from old friends. I feel badly that you feel that way. I told everyone at my High school reunion. I got so many " you did everything everyone else did " and so on. It is why I walk with a limp, am weak and I NEVER hide it. Normally I don't have a need to tell anyone and have never been asked. I have gone on many dates lately and don't say anything unless I think it's someone I will see again. I can also tell you not 1 Woman has had a problem with it. It's great to have you here, best of luck to you.

Vance, you'll find lots in the archives to interest and occupy you (and keep you away from commercial perfumes) for quite a while ;-) / Only problem will be that you might end up in getting lots more deliveries if NP hooks you in! Once you read about all those wonderful aromatics and how to blend them yourself the deliveries will increase - still you can formulate a perfume for your wife to make up for them! Enjoy.. Guest guest
Welcome! Milinovich, SMA Type I Wife to , Mommy to - 7 Months Old! http://www.myspace.com/kindrana Introduction Hi my name is Randy. I am 41 and have SMA III. I am married and have two daughters aged 13 and 10. I live in Cambridge Ontario (about an hour west of Toronto) and work for Sun Life Financial as an Information Technology manager with a team of business analysts reporting to me. I enjoy working with the business area to find ways to apply technology solutions to meet their business needs. I was diagnosed when I was 19 but started showing symptoms around age 12/13. The progression was fairly slow for me and I was able to live life fairly normally for a long time. That was maybe good and bad for me, because I didn't really deal with what it meant to have this disease. For the most part I ignored it, made stupid/lame excuses for why I couldn't participate in the few activities that I was unable to do. Didn't tell anyone outside my immediate family that I had SMA. That has changed for me though over the past few years. I use a scooter full time now and require assitance from my wife for pretty much all daily activities. I have been battling depression for the last year or so which is around the time that I pretty much lost whatever independece I had left. I am working on this, looking for ways to try and get some independence back. I finally applied to the wheel chair accessible public transportation in the area. I can still drive with hand controls, but need to have someone who can take the scooter in and out of the van. Looking for activities that I can do rather than focusing on the ones that I can't. Anyway, I saw a reference to this group on a forum posting on FSMA's website, so I thought I would join and see what it was about. Most body care lines shy away from glass because of the breakage problem in tiled bathrooms. Just a caveat. If you're determined to go ahead with them, sorry I don't know how to use the wax string. I've never seen that come up here before. Coincidentially, I was searching - googling - last week for the French method of tying glass stoppered bottle necks, but couldn't find anything. I do remember a site from years ago that had step-by-step illustrations for that. It's probably very similar to what you want to accomplish. The perfume method also includes a tiny bit of animal skin, paper thin, in the process. If anyone can help either or myself with this quest, please chime in. I have a custom perfume client who is providing the bottles for her fragrance, and I would like to finish them in that manner, but have already told her I may not be able to. Guest guest
Hello Dorothy! Welcome to the group! Has your daughter been tested for any of the genetic fever disorders? Her symptoms sounds alot like my sons when he was first starting regular episodes at age 5. They were very irregular prior to age 5 but then started coming like clockwork. The only difference is that he has never had the mouth ulcers. He has been diagnosed with Clinical FMF by doctors at the N.I.H. " Clinical " because whatever he has walks and talks like FMF even though they have yet to find the mutation causing the disease for him. His episodes always increased in frequency in the fall, usually starting in September. All my sons symptons fit to a tee. but all the other things like leg pain and stomach pain chest pain and just acky fits fmf. so you never know without testing. good luck . ************************************** See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)

I might add to the below that I do have a full set of Glassware and am planning to do some distilations in the coming year. I distilled a beautiful Patchouli two years ago and as I am now out I plan to do another batch. It produced an oil that was almost water white and once aged had a rich earthy Patchouli scent and almost floral top notes. I am also hoping to make an Absolute from a beautifully scented milk weed that grows in the mountains above SLC this year. I am very new to the world of natural perfumery. I recently read Aftel's book, and found it to be a truly inspiring, fascinating and lyrical read. I've also been reading a number of other books on the topic, and have ordered my first sizeable set of essential oils for perfumery. I look forward to conversing with all of you, and hope that I can also be of some help to others as I learn more about this wonderful world of natural perfumery. Jan Hi Jan A warm welcome....... Many find Mandy's book a great jumping off point ... do peruse the library in the files.... there are many fascinating books from earlier times on this most precious of subjects. Any questions do chime in and someone will always try to help. I am Janita a perfumer from the Guild... this will be my tenth year in natural perfumery come April and it is still as fresh and as wondrous .... here in England I found I was one of the very first explorers of using only natural perfume in 98'.. Mandy and Anya were doing their thing over in the US and I was so thrilled when I discovered them both..... Anya still pulls my leg about it LOL as I used to think I was the only one of this time !! *:-D since then it has been fabulous to see more NPrs emerging here in the UK.... We have some great trail blazers of the very first aromatherapy perfumers like Chrissie Wildwood, Seza Eccles here in the UK and Mindy Green, from the US for which I have the priviledge to know and respect deeply.... There are many others like Jeanne Rose and de Graffe who studied under Steffan Arctander who have contributed so greatly and continue to do so tirelessly for this aromatic art. Of course the growth in these last few years for this has been phenomenal. We have Salaam Attar from Profumo it who enlightens us all on animal notes....and psychology of smell.... and many others... fabulous suppliers, knowledgeable chemists whose input is always invaluable on breakdown of essential oils and safety... Guest guest
I have that 'synethesia' (sp?) condition where my five senses cross over all the time (e.g., I see colours when I smell or taste things; colours have taste, etc.), I think that's a contributing factor to my love of less complex blends. Greetings Greyson Anyway welcome and we hope to see you posting.. I also have synethesia and think in colour .... and shapes and lines > > Janita Hello Janita and Greyson, Here's more on synesthesia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia I didn't realize it was so prevalent - 1 in 23 people. Cool! There are different variants of synesthesia. Mine tends to be more the spatial-sequence variant. However, I do have a bit of a crossover between colors and smell/taste. I think it used to exasperate my parents -- I have always said that certain things smell or taste of certain colors (but only with green or brown; I've never thought anything tasted or smelled red, blue, purple or yellow, and the only things that taste or smell orange to me are orange flavored/scented things). Yet I've always described certain flavors as " this tastes like how " something else " smells " . (For example, when I tasted something that was artificially lemon-lime flavored: " This tastes like how bathroom cleaner smells " ) But I don't hear colors in music. I still have trouble thinking of scents in any other colors except for the ones that fit the green or brown receptors that have always been in my head. It's easier for me to think that things smell like rain, or like sunshine, like clouds, ocean, mountain, or forest. Now that I looked it up on Wikipedia, I see that some of my top-favorite persons in history were synesthetes: Van Gogh, Baudelaire, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Feynman.
