Thanks for the info Hannah- I had been marking the dates of the fever

but this last time started keeping more detailed info. I guess we'll

jst wait and see if it happens again. I glanced over some of the

other PFS, and none of them sound anything like what happens to my

son, so seems the most likely candidate. Time will tell....

This group is great, whether your daughter has or something else. My

daughter does seem to have of, but her fevers have never been clockwork. Our

specialist seems to have only about half of her patients with regular

fevers - but they do seem to have the red throat, enlarged cervical lymph nodes,

and ulcers.

Hello,

Thank you for letting me into your group and allowing me to learn from your

experiences. My baby is 8 months old and her name is Oona. She had her first

fever at 4 months old, and she's now in the middle of her 6th episode. The

time between fevers isn't exactly like clockwork--they range from 20 days to

30 days--so this may not even be what she has. No other symptoms so

far--just high fevers that meds don't seem to bring down. Right now I'm at

the very beginning of the road to a diagnosis.

I am an RN, too, in our Cath Lab holding in Prescott,

AZ. We were fortunate to get a diagnosis when our son

was 2 1/2, but that doesn't seem to make the treatment

plan that much easier.

I'm curious if your son has any throat involment,

i.e., pharyngitis, swollen tonsels, etc. In other

words, will some docs recommend a T & A even if there is

no obvious throat involvement?

We have tried prednisone, which is bringing my son,

Eli's, fevers to about every 11 days. He has been on

Singulair for 1 month, which does not seem to have any

obvious effect yet. Our pediatrician has been very

receptive to any information I bring to him, and I

wonder if I should push for a T & A, as it seems to help

so many kids. However, Eli's symptoms are primarily

fever only, with maybe mild red throat and mild

enlarged lymph nodes.

p.s. We have not ruled out any genetic disorders, but

at this point it was not recommended to get any

genetic testing since the only symptom seems to be

Re your question whether some doctors will recommend T & A even if there is no

throat involvement - in our case the answer is YES! Emma has never had any

throat involvement whatsoever and our ped rheum has just referred us to a T & A

surgeon to discuss T & A.

To be honest, the fact that Emma doesn't get throat involvement is probably the

ONLY reason that we are hesitating. In general, my husband and I prefer to have

this small surgery done rather than years of regular medicine (assuming

singulair, cimetidine etc would even help). But that's such a personal decision,

I can understand both arguments.

hope your new doctor is able to give you effective treatment options.? Has he

missed a lot of schooling because of the episodes?? How have you been treating

them all these years?

My son is 4 y.o. recently diagnosed with , previously he was being treated

for FMF.? He has been experiencing the fevers since before his one year b-day.?

We have a consult with an ENT on Monday to discuss a T & A.?

We all know the road is rough.? I hope you have some answers/treatments soon.?

they got a CCA, and I'm confused because I thought there was no such

animal in the USA. In the UK, there are official titles, but not in the

USA. Liz, can you help here? Maybe some new program has started?

No, I cant really help on this one, but like you I didn't think

Aromatherapy was recognised (clinically) in the USA. Over here in the

UK some AT's are working in hospital settings (mainly in palliative

care, some maternity units, and special care/differently-abled

facilities) but they do so *always* under direction from the

supervising Consultant or Doctor. Often they work as volunteers but

there are a few who have gained paid positions - even so they dont

work independent of the supervising physician, they have more of a

supportive role.

Maybe can enlighten us on this one? I'm also intrigued by

Raindrop Therapist - what is that ? I've not come across that in

the UK, although I do recall reading something on the web about using

neat oils? Can that be right???

Hi -- welcome to the group.

I use aromatherapy every day, too, and have for many years. Sounds like

you make aromatherapy perfumes if you only have 25, we junkies here have

upwards of 500! Don't get scared off, just add some as your budget allows.

Labeling and packaging in general are big hassles for everyone, so

welcome to that club, lol.

You'll learn lots here, and don't hesitate to ask questions -- for the

tuberose -- sample as much as possible from different sources,

thoroughly evaluate them and make your decision based on your

preferences, that's the only way to go.
