Modern (after 1990) cars with fuel injection DO NOT cost less to leave

running. Earlier cars with carburetors could use extra fuel when starting

if the driver pumped the gas pedal when starting, but it is doubtful that

even those were more economical to leave running unless the stop was for a

minute or less. That statement should be filed with the " urban legends " .

For many it IS THE TOPIC. I was with a severely disabled woman a few

weeks ago, living way from society hopint that gas prices will double

and triple and jsut keep going - or no one will really do anything. My

neighbors STILL leave their cars on at the grocery - its not even

winter. They obviously don't find it polluting nor do they find it too

expensive. One man said " it costs less to leave it on " that true???
