Firefighters and police personnel will be temporarily relocated

while mold is being removed from Temple Fire Station 7, 8420 W.

Ave.

" The mold was discovered after some of the firefighters at the

station said they noticed what they thought was the presence of

mold, " Pechal, public information officer for Temple Fire and

Rescue said. " They live there, and we are going to defer to them. "

Tape samples and air samples were taken. Mold can be hidden or in

view, he said.

Mold has been detected in the building through environmental test

results, Pechal said.

Pechal said while remediation work is being done, Engine 7 will

respond from Fire Station 5, 510 N. Apache St. There are three

firefighters for each of the three shifts located at the station.

Lt. Rick Ashe, Temple Police Department public information officer,

said police personnel will be relocated to the Central Police

Department.
