The most glaring reason is you simply aren't getting enough food.

You eat barely anything till the 2pm meal so what is a poor muscle

to do? It will have to feed on itself until an adequate amount of

food is given to them. This is a catabolic condition(muscle wasting)

and lends itself easily to retention of abdominal fat.

If you want to do cardio and weights on the same day adequate

calories must be taken in. Your 11:30 meal needs a carb! A fruit or

some oatmeal would be ideal to go with the eggs. Nix the bacon

because it isn't enough protein to justify the calories.

On the 2pm meal make sure you drain and rinse the canned fruit so

you aren't eating massive amounts of added sugar. It makes for a

major calorie savings. I know you will get more ideas from others.

Sometimes simple changes make all the difference. Hope this helps.

Your food is all messed up. Six small meals. That 11:30 meal has no carbs

and probably way more than a serving of protein. The 2pm meal has probably

way more than a portion of protein. It would be way more than a fist size

for me. How much olive oil are you using? Is there a reason you aren¹t

using fresh fruit in that meal? Perhaps switching the canned fruit out for

brown rice or ww pasta if fresh fruit isn¹t available? I¹d do the 20

minute HIT work out because it¹s part of the program and then add the tae bo

or whatever in later. I do the 20 minute in the morning and then sometimes

it¹s yoga, sometimes a walk with the dog, sometimes a jog, whatever in the

evening, but I don¹t detract from what the program says to do.

I asked a very similar question last week and I got some great tips. I was told

to check out the Morningstar products (vegan), which I did. I also bought some

boca vegan sausage to help up my protein. You might try the same thing and add

them into your meals. I have found the vegan burgers to be great additions to

my 2nd meal- and even my fourth! And, I use brown rice as a staple in just

about everything- good carb. I, too, was told about that canned fruit...a no

no when it comes to all the sugar.

I have the belly fat as well, and am only into my 7th week. I am sure that will

be the worst to get rid of! Hang in there! You aren't alone : )

One other question I would like to ask the group is about the myoplex shakes and

bars. I was under the impression they were a well rounded BFL meal. Are they

not to be used alone? I, too, will use them as a mid morning/ afternoon meal at

times. Should I not be doing this?

I do it too, I think it¹s fine, that¹s how it¹s set out in the book.

Myoplex lite shakes are a good meal. I use the ready-to-drinks

because I prefer the taste and they are convenient when I need a

quick meal. I don't use the bars. I don't like the way they taste

and from what I recall, they have a ton of sugar in them.

The Myoplex regular and Myolite are a balanced meal. The regular has

a lot more protein than a lite one, however. I use Myo Regular every

morning for a meal without adding anything.

The RTD I believe are lower in protein than the two above. I cannot

confirm that - dont have one here.

The bars are higher in carbs than protein so it depends on what ones

you are using. Sometimes, I add a shot of protein powder with water

to balance it out. The bars can be high in sugar as well.

How long have you been doing this routine and how well is it working?

Are your ab measurements shrinking at all? If not, shake things up.

Remember that the best workout is the one you've never done before. If

you're used to the treadmill and the Tae Bo they may not give you the

best results. If you have a gym membership, use a different cardio

machine each session and vary the intensity. If the treadmill is all

you have, change the way you use it. If you normally do steady-state

cardio, switch to intervals. If you normally do intervals, switch to

steady-state at a challenging pace. If you normally increase the

speed, increase the incline instead. Make the workout different and

more challenging and you'll have better results. Same deal with the

Tae Bo. If you've been doing it for a long time, try something else.

Get a new Tae Bo workout, or switch to step for awhile, or jump rope,

or go to a school track and run stadium stairs, anything to make your

fat cells nervous.

On your food, there's a really noticeable lack of fresh fruits and

vegetables. Most of what you're eating appears to be canned or

processed. Where are the big leafy salads? Apples? Berries? Sweet

potatoes? Lean abs love those things. :-) Your sodium to potassium

ratio determines how much water you retain. Fresh fruits and veggies

are loaded with potassium. You should be shooting for 5-9 servings a

day. Without any fresh food for balance, look at all the sodium you're

consuming. Check out the Myoplex package, the cottage cheese, the

turkey bacon. You'll be floored when you add it all up. And it's not

that sodium is totally evil and you have to eliminate it, you just

have to balance it with potassium-rich fresh fruits and veggies.

Take a look at the Lean Out or Swell Up menus and see if you can make

your meals a little more ab friendly:

http://www.skwigg.com/id55.html

Also, have you ever done the BFL 20-minute solution by the book?

REALLY pushed it? Because those high-intensity intervals are very,

very effective for fat burning. You could always cool down and then

keep going at a more moderate pace for another 20-30 minutes afterward

if it's the length of the workout you're worried about. The interval

training scares belly fat to death though. :-)

Hope that gives you some ideas.
