Guest guest Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Ealier last month, when I asked about measuring solid masses for a perfume formula, Zz recommended using a jewelers' scale for measuring. I went to the jewelry supplier and was a bit overwhelmed by the variety, and the prices. Do perfumers need a scale as accurate as a carat scale? These cost a few good hundreds if not thousands. As for accuracy - which one do we need: 0.1 0.01 0.001 Thanks! Ayala www.AyalaMoriel.com www.SmellyBlog.com Quote

Anya recommends one that weighs in increments of .01 grams. You can find a veritable universe of scales at www.cyberscale.net. If you look under Milligram Scales, there is one there that weighs in .01 gram increments (total weight capacity 50 grams) for only $60. They seem to go up in price from there based on how much they weigh total. There are also jewelry scales that weigh in lesser increments (down to .001 grams) but they are a little more expensive. Th emost expensive one I saw was about $250. Best wishes! -Patty Quote
