York West Liberal says there are thousands of homes in Ontario used as grow-ops, which usually leave behind dangerous mould infections. says it costs up to $40,000 to restore a home that has been used to grow marijuana, but in many cases the mould is simply painted over, not removed. His private member's bill would also make it mandatory for sellers to tell potential buyers of other crimes that took place in the home. says new home buyers may not see ghosts, but adds if they find out about murders after they move in, " their nightmare begins.'' The Conservatives and New Democrats like the idea of letting buyers know if a home was a grow-op, but complain 's bill goes too far by trying to include other crimes. The bill received second reading, or approval in principle, Thursday and will be sent to a committee for further study. Private member's bills rarely become law in Ontario, but sometimes they form the basis of government legislation that does get approved.
