Guest guest
CNN had a show on memory and the Hippocampus was shown by xray or catscan to be sabatoged by very traumatic stress event, like Post traumatic stress syndrome. They showed that hippocampus were markedly less responsive to stimuli after a tremendous stress event so think that traumatic stress may actually cause brain damage and that may underline PTSD. Actually Hippocampus glows somewhat on catscan of people with no PTSD and with people with PTSD it was 'dim' like as if the lights were out. I think that was in response to a stimulant of some kind. I don't remember how study was set up. People remember triggering event like it was seared into their minds but don't have good memory for much after that, as if it was burned out by this last event and so nothing can overshadow it or seem as important. I may not be explaining it well. Here is an article about that show: http://www.talkmilitary.com/forums/showthread.php?mode=hybrid & t=1259 --- In , LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: > > There is a good article at > > http://molinterv.aspetjournals.org/cgi/content/full/3/8/441 > > that everyone here should read.. >
